  6. Deleted Scene

This is basically a group of rooms and passages that were built to be part of my level 'Null Space'. The initial room (the courtyard with the blue key switch) and the final rooms (the pentagram teleport entry and exit) are included in Null Space, everything between them was removed because I felt this section of map was too linear and didn't really fit in with the style of map I was trying to create.

I have added some monsters and items to make this a playable single player level, but there are obvious dead ends, marked with 'no entry' signs on the walls, that lead to sections of the map that ARE included in Null Space.

Look on this as a preview of what to expect from Null space in terms of architecture and game play.

I can't think of a story here, but... this is My First Level (tm). You've been warned. Still, I don't think it's _that_ bad. Try it, and send your suggestions to me, they'll be welcome. I'm about to make another level, and it should be better -- especially on the map desing. I think I can at least handle the editor quite well now. Maybe. Ehh.

  11. Flay the Obscene (ver. 0.1)

/story Two levels: An introduction level and the main level.

The first one is has a dominent amount of tech textures and is supposed to look like a lab/secret office building. You are going to warp into another dimension -a very hellish dimension that is- via a machine located in the basement in order to prevent an invasion from that particular world: and it ain´t a friendly one...

Of note: You wont face ANY monsters in the first level!

The second one is TOTALLY different. You are now situated in a hostile world with NO friends ready to lend you a hand. This world is mainly made out of various types of rocks and bricks. Some opponents don't attack untill you pose a threat to them...... Others emerge out of nowhere.... Some are just scattered around the complex.

Of note: You WILL face monsters in the second level. (I never intended this level to be packed with monsters. Some people might say that the level doesn´t contain enough of them = enough challenge. I merely wanted to make it more exciting to look at and thus giving it more atmosphere).

Here´s some help for one of the secrets:

A monster you will see perhaps shoot him you will afraid you will not be for he is impossible to kill An opening not far much safer you are.

  24. Fait Accompli

I have tried to make a hellish and very "dark" level this time. I have mostly used the more gothic and obscure textures this time in order to achieve that hostile and evil environment. I originally wanted my Avind.wad to look like this level, however my expertise in level designing did not allow me this opportunity. So, as a goodbye to level desig- ning I have chosen to make a level much like the one I started out with as a sort of tribute. I personally feel that this level is one of the best.

One of the secrets are extremely hard to activate. I have never seen it done like this before, and IF you can trigger it.... well...you are good. And it does not count if you trigger it by coincidence.

This wad starts out in a room surrounded by crates, then you do into an underground maze, and finally pop up into the city of the dead. The city contains a "pet" shop, a nazi club, a gun shop, and an extinct volcano.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
