  6. Dungeons of the Doomed

This level is based on a Doom map that I made in 1996 called Citadel. In 1997 I converted it to Doom 2 (Citadel II). Dungeons of the Doomed is a new Doom 2 version with many tweaks and fixes.

  9. Fiendish.WAD

It's going to be one of those days. Once you get a chance to enjoy the hospitality of the welcoming commitee in this level, the warm receptions you will receive from the inhabitants of these fiendish halls will go downhill. Consider this level as a Gothic exercise in wariness. Beware those empty rooms and reap the benefits from the incarcerated fiends.

  11. The Farside of Titan

Given your success with the UAC mining base and the Anomaly investigation, it was inevitable that you get picked for this foray into the Titan Farside Research Base. Oh well. Rumours have it that some prototypes of alien technology are being tested here. Please investigate and report.

  12. Deep Core 1

I drew this map and built it in 1997. It was designed for my current megawad. The level lineup has changed a lot since this map was finished and it didn't make the cut for the upcoming first episode release. So I've ripped the custom textures out and am uploading it as-is. Expect a few more of these ;)

Got the idea from the movie-soundtrack of "Das Boot" by Klaus Doldinger. Fortunately i found a Tekkno-Like MIDI-File of this Track by U 96. The story: Well after alot of ....., you find yourself onboard of a Nazi-Submarine. Try to fight your way out. Thats all folks.

  20. X-treme (demo)

Well, maybe it's wrong to call this a demo, it's more like a HD-cleaning. It was close that these 2 levels were lost in my last reformat, I remembered to upload them the very last minute. Since it's not likely that I will work on this megawad- project anytime soon I might just as well release these levels standalone.

The difficulty is balanced so that skill 4 is not playable or fun in any way, so don't bother trying it unless you are a masochist.

  23. The Enigma Episode v2.0

Clean those shotguns and grab your thinking caps DOOMers! Here's nine levels of hot and tasty DOOM II action. For an _extra_ challenge play each level alone starting with a pistol. For a blastin' good time play them as an episode. All support difficulty levels and contain co-op and deathmatch starts.

This is a revision of the original release. Bugs have been fixed everywhere and all levels are significantly changed, I hope you'll find them both more challenging and more fun than before.

  24. Fantastic Violence

The idea for this level came from that old science fiction movie, _Fantastic Voyage_. The pitiful excuse for a plot is: Having been defeated soundly by conventional warfare, the Demons decide to attack from within... They develop a Hell-virus which spawns tiny horrors within, transforming the victim into one of their zombies. The carrier has been identified and isolated in time, and it's your job to be miniaturised and go in there to learn all you can about the infection and wipe it out. Enter through the mouth, exit most unpleasantly! Basically, it's just an excuse to use a whole level's worth of sloppy, organic textures.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
