  1. BOOTHILL -- Complete Western Conversion for DOOM2

The Boothill project was a joint effort by myself and several other DOOM fanatics to put together a complete Western conversion for DOOM2, as we did not believe at the time that there were any quality western style levels out there. Boothill includes 4 deathmatch levels, with new graphics, sounds, and sprites, to capture that old "spaghetti western" feel.

This wad should provide hours of fun. You start off with at least one weapon and you can easily get others. Lot's of ways to ambush and lots of places to get killed :). This wad can only be exited with two or more players if you're not cheating.

  3. Bucket DM

BucketDM - a mapset for Doom II.

This is my homage to the days of playing Deathmatch on Episode 1 shareware over a serial connection. It took hours to get the PCs to "see" each other, and the framerate on the old 486 laptop was horrendous-- but man, was it worth it. If you're tired of playing DM on flat maps that look pretty and not much else, you need to download this wad.

  5. Aftermath Oldschool Duel

A map pack containing 11 highly polished and thoroughly tested duel maps, made for the original "vanilla" doom2.exe.

This WAD strives to create an oldschool dueling experience while pushing the vanilla engine to its limit. The end result is a map pack that runs on any and all ports of DOOM II (including the original DOS doom2.exe), but looks and plays like something much more contemporary.

There should be something here for everybody to enjoy. That is to say, everyone should be able to find at least one map in this WAD that they like to duel on. There is quite a bit of visual and gameplay variety between all eleven of these maps.

  6. You can't hide!

(Oh man I love typing bullshit stories up)

One time in the Land of Many Campers, a certain ZDaemoner was getting fed up with campers who would camp in his own creations, especially when he couldn't do anything about it. He decided to construct a building that was so tiny, that it would be impossible for a person with the brain of an American president to actually stand in one place and expect to cheaply kill the players who actually try to play the game properly. He had to make it universally compatible, so that anyone would be able to enjoy his creation. He deceived some lamers from Doom Connector to play a "new wad that will literally blow your mind", and watched them freak out when they realised that they had nowhere to hide. The ZDaemoner defeated them with so much ease, that he decided to spread the wad so that many people will learn the ultimate lesson: 'You'll never get anywhere with camping.'

  8. boo

Doom2 DM map meant specifically for duels. It's very compact & vertical, has some sound cues to track / mislead your opponent, diversity in attacks and ambushes, balanced item placement. Makes for tactical but still very intense combat. Architecture is quite vertical and centers around 2 round pits, all dressed up in q2 textures, and with moody late summer night lighting. Item placement is designed around old deathmatch with a SG, SSG, CS, CG, RL, PG, BFG, with the last 2 putting you at a slight tactical disadvantage when you get them. altdeath adds only a green armour and some health/ammo.

  10. Circle of Caina

This is an icy deathmatch map I made where I tried to blend all of the good parts of regular Map02, Map03, and Map11, and end up with something the flowed better than any of the three. I think I succeeded pretty well in doing that. In 1-on-1 this map is a power struggle over the main circle. The frag rate keeps pretty decent even though there are a lot of seek and destroy frags. With 3 or more players however, it doubles as a great FFA arena. There are tons of crazy jumps as well. Keep in mind, this map is inspired by Map02, Map03, and Map11, so if you don't like to play any of those maps in DM, then this might not be for you. Oh, and yes you CAN get the BFG without cheating. Just run very fast. :)

  11. A1 Stud Muffin's Sniper Wad

Set in a snipers haven, you and your Fragpals must fight it out in buildings surrounded by water, connected by passages. There are so many windows and look-out spots in this level, that you'll never be safe. Oh no... never! NEVER! MUHUUHHAHAHAHAHAHAH!! Erm... sorry... anyway, A1 started the level design, and Kowalski finished it off... BTW: The Enya music has been added so that, at least when your left ventricle is having spasms due to the plasma shots hitting your chest, and your mouth is filling with the salt water around you, you know that if you just relax, you'll probably be ok. ;)

  13. British WADpack Season 11

5 highly original DM levels, and probably the last from the BDL team as we know it (see ending note). Regardless of how Season11 turns out, we hope you can appreciate these wads for what they are.

Much, much more complex than previous Brit WAD's both aesthetically AND playability wise. Take the time to learn them, and enjoy what is the superlative BDL WADpack.

Brit11 : The only wad pack with *fantastic* looks which DON'T hinder gameplay!

The music accompanying each level is pretty good too, and suits the style.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
