  1. Chaingun Arena v 1.0

Chaingun Arena is basically what the name says. A chaingun arena. It is also a deathmatch wad for Doom II. Nothing out of the ordinary, just old-fashioned game play, reminiscent of KotH levels. It's best-suited for 4-6 players, though I'm sure more could work in it.

  3. CyberMatch

DeathMatch level, players appear as Cyberdemons; just start CM.BAT and begin a network/modem/serial game without changing the Map Warp and Misc Settings or adding other WADs. After you finish playing run DELCM.BAT to erase the level.

Use CM.BAT every time you play.

Although CyberMatch may coexist peacefully with other wads in your DOOM folder, I strongly recommend using a clean DOOM 2.

And, a word about the level itself. Although I built it in a relatively short time, this map is the result of many years of computer and gaming experience for me. While constructing it was't always a pleasant occupation (there were moments when I felt ruined and frustrated), I now find myself very happy and content with the result - I see this not merely as a WAD, I see it more as a product of my imagination and creative thought. I did my best.

  13. Capture the Castle, The 3rdblood

The object is to takeover, and keep the castle. WHY? Because theres tons of weapons in there, and essentially, you live like kings.. Now, the other team (lets call them our peasants :) ), are pissed off at the "kingdom" and decide to revolt, and gather up the weapons they can find, and attempt to takeover the castle.. If successful, they are the new kings and have lotsa fun!

There are NO warp spots in the castle. This makes it better, cuz People wont just die, and start right there.. There are only 2 entrances to the castle, and they are good, one in back, one in front, which allows you and yer `mate to go in at the same time.. Talking is important, there are trenches for trench warfare, and so you wont be seen by the guards on top of the castle (if any, hint hint).. Trees let you zig zag, and make it to the castle unseen, hopefully.. Good luck..

  15. Brick Death Match: Skin and Heat version 1.1 (An internal demo is now included)

This level uses mostly brown textures ( don't worry, it's not ugly.:)) There is a lava pit in the center of the structure. You can use this to damage your enemies if you can shoot him or her in there.

Another feature is a series of teleports. there are eight teleports that allow for quick transportation. They can also be used to cut your opponents off if you can predict thier general movement strategies.

*Important Exit Notice* The exit requires teamwork. Have a player get near the big eye switch(the one in the section with one one of the chainguns.) Have another player get near the headswitch that must operated to get the super shotgun. Player one will flick the large eyeswitch. Player two should open the barrier that blocks off the super shotgun. He or she should an eye switch in a dark corner. This the exit switch.

  16. Book safety zone

This is a deathmatch level. A cabin holding a Super Shotgun, a BFG 9000, a plasma rifle, a medikit, and lots of ammo lies in the center of the level. There are eight more weapons spread throughout the wad. Hot earth makes the cabin even harder to access.

I'd recommend ALTDEATH as the playing style, but DEATHMATCH is supported was well.

To exit, go to the bookshelf that is in the room with the BFG 9000. Go to the front side (with the visible books) and activate it with the spacebar. A door should open near to you. Hurry and get under door before it closes. See the lion's head? Just activate it. It will lower one of the pillars outside. You will need to get your partner to cross the exiting line for you.

  20. Bloodlust

A large Deathmatch designed with 3 or 4 players in mind, but 2 players will have a blast too. Single play mode has monsters, but not many; this wad was constructed primarily for Deathmatches. Take a GOOD, LONG look around before Deathmatch play because of all the secret doors, lifts, etc. Take nothing for granted, a seemingly safe spot may have a false wall nearby hiding an opponent with a rocket launcher!

**FOR DEATHMATCH YOU MUST USE SKILL LEVEL 1 OR 2, AND CO-OPERATIVE MULTIPLAYERS MUST USE SKILL LEVEL 4 OR 5**

Single play is supported in all skill levels but 1 & 2 will have no monsters, these skill levels are reserved for Deathmatch: more ammo in the weapons and different weapons placement. The game will NOT run if you try, say, Deathmatch with skill level 3-5, or co-operative multiplayer with skill level 1-3. This was necessary to make the best scenario for each mode of play. Here's how it works: -Skill 1: SINGLE PLAY/DEATHMATCH, no monsters. BEST FOR DEATHMATCH. -Skill 2: SINGLE PLAY/DEATHMATCH, with a little less ammo in each weapon than skill 1 for a tougher Deathmatch. No monsters. -Skill 3: SINGLE PLAY only. A few monsters, but pretty easy. Added a few helpful items. -Skill 4: SINGLE PLAY/CO-OP MULTIPLAYER, more monsters than skill 3, pretty tough. -Skill 5: Same as skill 4 but monsters respawn. Nightmare! For ANY multi-player game you must add the appropriate "-skill x" switch in the command line because DOOM2 automatically defaults to skill 3. The "-nomonsters" switch is not necessary for Deathmatches.

There is only ONE spot, between two lifts, that you can get trapped. If you do, the acid floor will give you a slow and painful death. There is a Hall of Lost Souls from which many have not returned, Beware...

  21. The Bunker

An inner arena and outer arena, both outdoors, with a building between them, and four different sets of tunnels in the building. All the weapons, etc. are in the tunnels, The "feature" is a bunker-type building in the outer arena, which you can lock yourself in and shoot out the windows. There's a deathmatch start in there, so someone might spawn inside just when you feel safe..... This level is intended for Deathmatch only.

  22. Battle Field and Hill Fun

This is a DEATHMATCH level. There are *NO* monsters so if your expecting to play this alone you'll get bored. This is an mostly an open area playing area. It includes 1 fort and 1 bunker. This is best played with two teams of two. Just remember who your teams are. This level has stuff like a snipers alley. This WAD is best played around scenarios i.e. attack the base/defend the base. If your attacking the bunker you have the opertunity to kill the power, which shuts the lights off. Get the light amps. and attack at total darkness. I tried to give each team there own weapon to start with- fort-P.G.; bunker-M.L I also tried to give each team security around their base. Each side has their advantages and dis- advantages. On Hill Fun it is just one big long stairway and a bunch of hills. I made this one for fun.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
