  2. Docking Supply Station 1

The action takes place in a secret docking facility. Weapons and ammo aren't all that hard to find, but be warned, there are no BFGs or Plasma Rifles. You are stuck with only the primitive projectile weapons. I've created a few new textures for this level: A railing for the ship, and also a pop- machine that I created one night while deprived of my daily intake. There are also two new player death sounds sampled from Highlander, The Simpsons, and also from Aliens. All sounds were sampled by me so that I could make sure they were the best quality possible.

This a deathmatch wad for Map 01 of Doom2. It Contains "4" fragging areas each easily identified by the textures. Lots a tricks and traps. To get the plasma hit the single blue flame on the steps BEWARE you can only get it from 1 side. Watch those moving steps. BFG is gettable by experts only :)

  5. Destroyer

Set on a Navy Destroyer, I didn't really follow the plans of any particular ship, only added the essential components of ANY ship. It also has a nuclear reactor which houses the BFG ('cause it's just hot stuuuff! :) ) Also this wad should have 100% ALIGNED textures (go ahead and check, it's all perfect), because It's a big part of the wad and I'm always trashing people who don't align textures (i.e. foxer)

  6. Chunkks' Hell In The Fallout Shelter

FALLOUT.WAD is in a time and setting similar to the scenario put down in Stephen King's trilogy, "The Dark Tower" series. You have an upper world where all is desolate. Head down those stairs, and you are headed straight to hell - CHUNKK'S HELL. "What you call hell, he calls home" Richard Crenna in Rambo.

  10. DAMNATION ALLEY

This is an outdoor "City" Level designed for Deathmatch with a few things in mind: a. Variety. I wanted a level that lacked the typical mirror symmetry of many WADs. Almost all the buildings are unique and offer interesting locations to earn your frags. Players are drawn to different elevations for more interesting attacks. b. Open Areas with Easy Access. I prefer the open outdoor "wargame" feel to a DeathMatch level as opposed to maze-like levels. For the most part, doors just get in the way of a fast paced DeathMatch game. Thus, doors were used sparingly. Windows are passable, making for great last-minute escape routes (as well as to jump through to surprise your opponent). The outdoors are well lit so you can see your opponents. Indoors tends to be a little darker, but not pitch black. Lots of room to maneuvre as well so you'll have to earn your kill! d. Size. Big enough for four players, but not large enough to prevent 2 players from never seeing one another. There are plenty of windows and the area is quite open, so even two players shoul have little trouble finding one another. c. Looks. You'll be looking at the level quite a bit during a DeathMatch level so it might as well look good. I spent quite a bit of time ensuring all the textures were mapped properly (where possible). There's a lot of construction detail as well, which explains the large size of this SINGLE level WAD.

Great fun! The level has 3 basic elevations and is very fast paced. All weapons except the BFG (REJECT efficiency is 1%, so it would probably be unfair!)

  14. Sudden Death

My first frag-fest. This is a very, very dangerous place to be. Children should be Very Careful when playing here.

There is more to this level than what is first apparent. Push on everything. The three platforms in the arena are operated by pushing on the center silver column. You may duplicate my Insta-Lifts in your levels providing you give me credit. Figuring out how to properly utilize those linedefs took some time.

  19. Solar Flare

DEATHMATCH ONLY! You can play single or co-op, but why bother? This level is designed for pure adrenalin pumping deathmatch action. Smaller in size, multiple exits in every room, sniper spots, secrets, and no monsters. The exit CAN be accessed by one player but it's a hell of a lot easier with 2.

*Story* You are fighting for control of your spacecraft, which is heading directly into one of the largest solar flares that ever existed on the sun. Cyborgs, disguised as your fellow crew mates, have been placed on the ship to make sure the ship goes into the sun. You're not sure what kind of contraband is in the cargo bay, but you accepted the mission to deliver it and now your life is at stake because of it. It's you against the cyborgs out in the lonely emptyness of space...

  23. FragTime

Totally original. Very open, one center tower with the BFG inside (some people like it, you almost have to die to get it anyway.) In this center square are boxes that make for good dodging. Jutting upward from this center square are stairways that lead around, and all connect, making it a very circular, fast level.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
