  1. HawkEye's Deathmatch ][

This is the sequel to HAWKDM.WAD. Similar in design and concept, these wads reflect my own playing style where a sharp mind, good tactics, and skill get the frags instead of pure luck reminiscent of many tiny, cramped wads.

  2. Imperial Hobbies

This is a small deathmatch wad of a two story gaming store and its immediate surroundings. With 4 players, the frags come fast and furious! There are also several secrets to give those intelligent players and enterprising explorers an edge! This is based on a REAL place: Imperial Hobbies in London, Ontario, and its immediate surroundings. Dave Carnie, the owner, has been kind enough to give me free access to his networked gaming systems for testing out my wad creations. In return, I created this wad so that he and his customers can play with shotguns in the store without having to clean up afterwards! :-) This isn't a quick knock-off though - it is well crafted, in my opinion, with close attention to playability, texture alignment, and in making the "illusion" of two stories as believable as I can make it. Besides, where else are you going to find a deathmatch start sitting on a toilet? But you may need to kick the vending machine. :-) If you are ever in the area, check out his store! (And see how accurate I was!) Let him know this is how you found out about his place and he'll give you a tour (and a free membership).

  4. Genocidal Genesis

My first three WADs combined into one. Exits have been added from originals, level 1 (Fire Vat) has a weird exit. The level is not big enough to have a co-operative exit, so if you rush, you can make it on your own. Level 2 (Demon Arena) is larger, but there is only one route up the platforms, the long way, so you must have two players. Use IDCLIP to get thru the STARTAN wall to the east of the map. Death Sprial can be completed by anyone, IF YOU CAN GET PAST THE WONDERFUL SURPRISE AT THE END...

  7. HARDCORE.WAD for Doom II

HardCore.wad is a medium size level that is excellent for 2,3, or 4 players. The first wad was totally designed by us. We added some graphics and some sounds that are pretty cool. The other 3 levels are new wads by the ultimate wad designer "Dweller in the Cellar". I have not edited the 3 dweller levels in any way, except for the sounds, of course, but this should not effect gameplay. This wad has really cool lighting that we spent alot of time doing. We spent alot of time picking cool textures that are appropriate for the wad.

  9. The Deadly Harvest

This is a deathmatch level. We've played it for a few days and fragged each other a million times. Though the WAD is deathmatch only, I didn't just put a few rooms here and there, but also did my usual work of texture choosing and aligning to make it not only play good, but also _look_ good. I've seen too many levels which might be quite playable, if their authors had spent more time on giving them the right look.

  10. HELL'S GARDEN (HELLSGDN.WAD for DOOM2)

My second wad. Completed May 03, 1996. It is based on the premise that you can (and should) enjoy killing your friends in surroundings that are aesthetically pleasing.

    Intended for deathmatch.

Please E-mail your reviews of this WAD. I'd like to know how I did!

  11. High.wad or (german) Hoch.wad

I made this wad during a fraggin 4-player-network- session. It's pretty cool, no kidding. It's quite small, but for 4-players. There are LOTS of cool 'n' new effects. look for more description at the end of this file if you REALLY can't wait to see those effects in the dm. play the deathmatch with monsters and with respawn.

  12. GAMBLER.WAD

So, you're still looking for WAD's after 2 years of DOOM ][, eh? If that's the case, then you are probably looking for quality, since you've no doubt had your fill of crappy ones. Do you like your textures aligned? You got it. Do you like consistent, smooth transitions between areas? You got it. Do you like fast-flowing DeathMatches that include all the weapons, very little health, just enough ammo, and a few tele-frags? You got it. Do you hate BFG overload, megaspheres, soul spheres, cheap spawn frags, etc? You got it, sort of... Lemme explain:

With a cursory glance at this wad you will see 3 BFG's, 3 soul spheres, Combat Armor, etc. and you will think, "Geez, not another one of those!". BUT, this one is different. All of these items save one BFG are out of the players' reach until one guy gets desperate and wants to gamble. You see, when you go after the one accessible BFG, pedestals with the other goodies come down in different areas of the map. You are gambling, because you never know what your enemies are going to obtain, if anything! This system really works well to provide a balanced, and unpredictable match.

In regard to telefrags, the main battleground of this WAD is an outdoor arena with three large structures, each with 1 passthru tunnel that acts as a teleport to the ledge that encircles the arena. The teleports are activated only after entering the tunnel, so if you enter and quickly hit reverse, you will teleport to a different part of the ledge than the guy that enters and passes straight through. The guy hoping for a tele-frag in this case has a 50/50 chance (greater if he is a keen observer with quick reflexes) of fragging his prey. Again, a gamble.

Hope you decide to try it, it's a blast!

You might remember some of our other wads as Embolism, Smash21, 125wads, and, of course, Hoss. Well, Hoss2 compiles some more of our best picks from 125wads. Hoss has gained a bit of prominence, so we'd like to plug a few more of the same type of our frequently played wads.

  17. IN

This is a great Doom2 Deathmatch Level that replaces Lev 1. You are in this strange place...You hear a loud sound..YOU TURN AROUND AND...find out that you have found a possible escape route that your little "FRIEND" has taken to avoid you from noticing where he/she has gone! You travel down the tunnel to try to ambush this poor.. poor.. person. Just then the lights turn on AND..AND..your enemy fires a double barrell shotgun! It hits you on your left arm! You go down hard but immidiately get up and return his fire with a rocket right to his head! As he lies there..on the HARD ROCK FLOOR, you go up to him and Thank him kindly for the damage he did on your arm by punching him in the face as hard as you possibly can! He screams in agony and says some very NEGATIVE CURSES to you refering to your mother. So you gracefully rip of your SHIRT AND PULL OUT YOUR TRUSTY CHAINSAW!! Then you say in a LOW..SCARY LAUGH "YOU WILL PAY YOU STUPID DUMSHIT GODDAM MOTHER F%$#$%!! (quote from "BAD HABIT" Song By "THE OFFSPRING") He begs for you to spare his pathetic life. You look deep into his eyes.....just stare into his eyes ....He smiles at you and expects you to help him up. Just then you START YOUR CHAINSAW. You let it rev up a few times and say.."Sweet dreams SUCKA!" Then you Let out a loud laugh that would scare a cyberdemon! And place the chainsaw on his body. As you cut through his flying flesh he lets out a BLOOD CURDALING SCREAM!! "AHHHHGHAHGAAGHARAGHARGHAGHTAARQ axghrakpoxvbaghr!!!!!!$#$!#$@%$^%" After you put him through an extremely slow and aganising punishment you finnally kill the poor loser because you cant stand hearing his pleads that you kill him. Just then you hear footsteps coming and remember that you are not alone. You grab your rocket launcher and prepare for another Great Battle In THE CHAMBERS OF DEATHSWORD's LEVELS!!!

  21. HALF A CHANCE (hafchans.wad) This WAD may be run directly with either Doom or Doom II.

I hate unfair death match levels. You know them- one player gets a heavy advantage early in the match, blows away the opposition and remains invincible for the rest of the match. Boring... even when it's you.

HALF A CHANCE provides limited ammo, medicals and only offers the standard armour. Weapons are available but you'll expose yourself to fire and/or have to take damage to get them. The only powerup is the shadow sphere. Any advantages a player gains are temporary and there will be a price to pay. This is a small level. It offers plenty of cover and invisible sniping locations but you won't waste a lot of time finding your opponent(s).

If you like monsters, a few imps will keep you alert. If you prefer humans only, use the -nomonsters parameter when loading Doom.

Skill levels are not implemented. Instead, they are used to vary the weapons. In Doom, levels 1 and 2 provide the shotgun and machine gun. Level 3 trades the rocket launcher for the machine gun. Levels 4 and 5 offer the shotgun and plasma rifle.

Doom II gives level 1 and 2 players both shotguns. Level 3 drops the super shotgun but brings in the machine gun. Levels 4 and 5 arm you with shotgun and rocket launcher.

In multiplayer mode the exit is cooperative; the single player exit is blocked off. One player will have to throw a switch to make a distant actual exit switch available for a second player.

It is intended that deathmatch play use -altdeath version 2 rules. A batch file is included to respawn monsters and items for single player practice.

  23. Homicide

of the Wad * Homicide is a medium-sized, well designed Deathmatch level with new sound and textures. It was laid out on paper 3 times before I even picked up the mouse, and it is chock FULL of cool places to murder people. There are features you won't find in ANY other wad!!! Just look:

*** Visit the Hall of Weapons, where you get a -different- weapon each and every time you go there!!!

*** Search out and find the secret door leading to Waddboy's patented LOCK-N-CRUSH control panel!!! Lock your enemies up and then taunt the hell out of them before you smash them to pulp!!! Watch it all happen through the cool police-style one-way mirror! Your friends will HATE you!!!

*** Go up top, where you get a glimpse of Waddboy himself!

*** Find the FREE CAN OF SPAM hidden in each of Waddboy's wads!!!

There is other stuff too. In all modesty, the level REALLY is great for Deathmatch. Lots of great windows, sniper pads and murder holes - but not enough that it gets annoying. It's small enough to rack up the frags and sadistic in it's simplicity.

  24. HANDICAP TRIO (handicap.wad) 3 level DeathMatch wad for Doom II

Don't you hate it when you always win? Don't you hate it even more when you always lose? When it comes to the truly important things in life (such as Doom) some of us are better than others. This wad tries to even the balance with a handicap for the less experienced player(s).

If you play at skill levels 1 or 2, you must choose your weapon before entering the main play area. You will not find additional weapons later. The weaker player should choose a more powerful weapon than the stronger player. Experiment with weapons to find the best balance between the players.

Skill level 3 plays normally. Skill levels 4/5 add monsters.

You should be using the -altdeath switch so that weapons and bonuses will respawn.

  25. Lunchtime at Hill Engineers

This map is the floor plan for Hill Engineers in Dalton, MA. Sounds boring, huh? Well, come to find out, this site of vicious deathmatches is in itself an excellent deathmatch arena. There are many routes and quick corners to run to. This plan seems to have been made with ambush in mind (no, DOOM didn't exist when we designed our office). Finding room for secret areas was tough, but our Architects came thru, as usual.

To keep interest up, two "unethical" secret areas were created. They are not visable in play, but can be detected on the map with alot of study. They have no effect on play, other than the booty.

This level was created only as an exersize in editor usage and my office layout was used for personal satisfaction. Most time in the editor was spent creating as accurate a representation as possible with DOOM. In the end, the layout actually was playable and became a favorate deathmatch arena.

BTW, the "EXIT" area is our competitors office, kind of like hell!

Hope you all enjoy this a bit.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
