  2. Skroom

Skroom: A six level DooM II deathmatch set.

MAP01 - "The Arena Gate" - Start off in a replica of the Quake 3 Arena map The Arena Gate.

MAP02 - "The Church" - Sit on the altar and explode the occasional idiots fighting near you, or wave a plasma gun around outside. Or sit on a pew with a shotgun.

MAP03 - "King Of The Hill" - Grab a good gun and head for the top of the hill, and frag as many people as you can before being knocked off.

MAP04 - "Two Sides Of War" - Fire, reload and pump ammo around two parallel hollowed out rooms.

MAP05 - "The Screwed Dimension" - Play in a prefabricated battle base, originally started to be a generalisation of the Quake map The Slipgate Complex.

MAP06 - "Circle Of Revenge" - Have a rocket fragfest in a big circle with a lava pit and a plasma tower in the middle.

  4. SimpleDM

A very simple, clean cut map, took about 2 hours to make. Reason for making it? I just felt like taking a break from the extremely detailed mapping Id been doing, and to just make a fun, "classic" doom2 type deathmatch. It's designed so there is no focal point, but the battles are still close up.

  15. Telearena.wad

This is a semi-small DM level with a REALLY low light level, making it hard to see anything but shots. Unless you start in the center, where there is a pair of light-amp goggles. The platforms in the center might be a bit close together, but this is only one of my first levels, so dont crit me much.

This is my first Strain map. I felt in Marble mood on this one. What is fun is to try and out-run the BFG down the long corridors. This map is perfect for the run and shoot.

  21. Cold Sweat

Insanely fast and furious DEATHMATCH for DOOM II. A large symmetrical room is the setting, with 4 teleports leading to 4 symmetrical antechambers. It is VERY hard to get a bearing on where you actually are... which is exactly the point. If you want to rest use the antechambers, but make sure you are not followed... Good Luck and watch your back.

  24. URBAN2.WAD

Deathmatch level set in a Bladerunner-inspired seamy urban core. Fight in the open streets, seek refuge in buildings, duck through dark alleys, and ambush your opponent in an abandoned subway station. This level has lots of detail with new sprites, flats, wall textures, and graphics. Cool lighting effects, a super shotgun armory, lots of dark corners, a pit trap, neon signs, city skyline and more. Extensively playtested and refined. Weapons are strategi- cally placed and building layout punishes players for camping in one spot too long. Non-cooperative exit. (Bring your hardware--the map itself is fairly small for deathmatches with plenty of contact, but the open design of the city has a fair number of visplanes). Music is borrowed from Map08 of Doom2. Zipfile includes DeuSF for a clean install with no filmy residue like other PWADs.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
