  2. All Alone

This is a single player WAD for Doom II, but has DM start points if you want try. A single person called upon to make his/her way through terror filled rooms and hallways. You first arrive when your transmat beam goes awry, and you find yourself on a large dias. You take stock of your surroundings and see several nasty Demons, thank God they are barred up in a room ! You see what appears to be a lighted red skull in a barred window far above you. You also see two locked doors, one obviously needing some kind of pass-key. But wait .... there is a switch in the room with the Demons. You then spot a wicked, blood encrusted chainsaw near the room, but even with that you might still not kill all those creatures. Looking around carefully, you notice piles of dead players near embossed carvings of a hideous creatures near the door requiring a key. As you wonder about the carvings, you notice scratch marks around them ....hmmmmm could they be switches ? could they somehow help me escape the Demons and get the hell out of here ? ............ This is only the beginning of a dangerous road to freedom.

Lmp included will give away some secrets and the trick at the beginning.

Take on hell spawn in a highschool setting you could only find in DOOM II. The level is fully equiped with lockers (with strange contents), teachers (Ha! take THIS Mrs. Bolton! BOOM!), students (poor saps, put them out of their misery), a floating principal and a detention must worse than any that's ever been seen before! Then, in the final areas you must pass the tests to get out alive. By the way, remember to always flush!! and don't eat the food.

  6. MAK's Doomdom for Doom ][

The original MAKDOOM series ported to Doom ][...

Four classic Doom levels complete with all three keys, traps, secret doors, and of course, lots of targets. These levels are an attempt to mirror the mood and detailed maps that made the original game so much fun. Stress was placed on QUALITY.

Attention veterans of MAKDOOM1-3; This is the last addition to the MAKDOOM series. I will fix any bugs that come along, but do not plan on starting a level 5. I hope you have enjoyed this quadripartite.

Well, for this author, it's back to my family (if I still have one)... until it's time to start making QUAKE levels. ;^)

Please E-mail or write me if you have the time and let me know what you think.

  7. Monsters

This is an absolute wild "micro" Doom II level. Four rooms with 3 Spider Masterminds, 1 Cyberdemon, and 1 Revenant. There is no health and no armor, just a BFG9000 and some cells! The odds are stacked against you, but this level can be won! Warning: This level should not be played by anyone with a weak heart! This may be the best "micro" level you've ever played.

  9. NEVER2.WAD

A really cool castle wad. NEVER2 is fun, and challenging in UV, but not too hard. There are some tough secrets to find, and there are tons of baddies. Death matchers should have a blast as well as singles. So what's the description? Get the wad and check it out! Compared to other 'non-linear' levels, this one is really non-linear. It's also pretty well inter-connected for DM after all the secrets are found. It features the Death Room, a cool outside area where you can jump all over the place, a multi-leveled maze type thing, and the dreaded caco-lair! No stupid switch puzzels or death traps. A straight forward ass kick'n pwad. It is basically the same as never.wad for doom1, except I added the doom][ stuff (combat shot gun & monsters) and changed 2 textures.

Remember that teleporter landings are a key of which building to enter next.
There are enough suits near islands to protect you
There are goggles hidden prior to the dark room
The last room is tough-look for switches behind the crates and then a way to move the crates

  16. (couldn't think of one)

This is my first attempt at a doom2 level. I'm afraid it doesn't have much of a theme as all I was trying to do was experiment. Its not a cakewalk, however, even on the 'easy' setting.

As with other wads in series (NLDOOM21.zip-NLDOOM26.zip) theme is important!
This is an ancient setting with castles, pyramids, temples etc.
Wall textures accordingly are not high tech-stone & brick & wood abound
    3 keys to get

  22. Maze of DooM(!!!!!)

Labyrinth randomly generated with a neat little program I found. Before it was a Doom 2 level, it looked a bit like something from Larn. :)

The thing here is, the maze is one continous sector, so all the guys hear you from the very beginning. It can get a little nerve-wracking in there, since the imps all hiss at the beginning, and then start hunting you. When they see you, if you don't see them, they'll claw your back and you'll jump out of your chair. :)

  23. Metal doom][

My first level constructed for DOOM ][. Feedback always welcome. I used primarily the new textures from DOOM ][ because they are, well, new. I of course threw in some of the new monsters. This level is, like the MUD series of wads (not by me), absolutely filled with monsters, ammunition and health. You may want to try a tactic that I developed from playing the MUD wads: Open up a door, back away and send a few rocket rounds into the room. This should serve to thin out their ranks a bit, making the room more manageable.

One suggestion: Be careful when getting the blue key or you may find yourself unable to get out of the room that it is in. I suggest saving the game just before getting it.

There are a few problems with DEU2 (although it is the best DOOM ][ editor currently avail- able). I could not make normal fast opening doors as the ceiling would come down instead. I was originally planning to make the level quite large (> 1000 vertices), but the memory drain on deu 2 was such that I had to stop early. Some of the functions were no longer available and the editor started to make mistakes. Eventually deu would no longer save the level.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
