  4. ONE

GOOD GODS, another single/multi player doom2 wad. This one'll blow your socks off and mail 'em to mars. Poetic license (i am speaking crap). Doesn't matter... or does it? Who knows? (sings) who cares? for me? C'est La Vie. I love ELP. I think the L has the best solo songs tho. Who knows who i'm talking about? Oh well, if you don't know it doesn't matter. How's life? Good? Shitty? Just remember you'll end up where you are supposed to go, and when you get there you'll go "hmmmm, here i am". (i think i've been drinking a bit too much). Anyway, this wad is ok. The first level is straight-forward blasting, (something sadly lacking with most wads these days, well i think so anyway). The second is something like you've NEVER seen EVER EVER BEFORE. Ever. It ain't that great actually but i bet you can't do it with a mouse. If you can, mail me a demo, doesn't matter what version. You know what? I'm going to put a demo in. NO!! don't try to stop me, i've thought about it and my decision is FINAL! Probably only a demo of level one, maybe level two. It'll be v1.666, but it's real easy to change it so it'll work on v1.9 or whatever. Just read the DOOM specs.

  5. Nemesis

This level is a bit like 'Downtown' from Doom 2, but not half as big. There are 7 buildings in Mortal full of killing to be done. There are lots of secrets around and about which will help you greatly if you wish to find them. Please send any recordings to me at the above. Have fun!!!

  7. Mines of Death for Doom ][

I created this level specifically for Doom 1.6 with deathmatch v2.0 in mind. I retextured it and added monsters and weapons for Doom ][. It's a little harder than MINEWAR.WAD (the Doom version). It's also (in my opinion) fleshed out a little better. On to more important info: DO NOT ERASE THE REJECT MAP FOR THIS LEVEL! If you don't know what I mean, then you probably don't have to worry about it. You can erase the reject block map of a wad file by looking at it with almost any wad editor then saving the file. You can also erase the reject map by rebuilding the wad with some node builders.

    MAP 15

There is a second exit switch to the secret level. Try and find it! There are many jumps across canyons. Some of these jumps are difficult. Don't get discouraged. I didn't intend for there to be any secret to these jumps, I just meant for them to be difficult. I obviously put some of the better goodies on the higher levels, so if you are playing this level in deathmatch, DON'T GIVE UP YOUR HIGH GROUND! This level was obviously designed with deathmatch in mind. There are LOTS of ambush and scouting spots available, especially if you make it to higher ground. This level also plays remarkably well in single-player and cooperative modes. There are a couple of "special effects" in this level. I put a couple of "two-way" mirrors in here. Beasties can only see through them if they are on the "two-way" side. You won't be able to see the beasties. If, however, you manage to get behind the "two-way" side, you can shoot at beasties without fear. They won't be able to find you, and will helplessly wander around, waiting to be put out of their misery!

It may be my first DOOM][ wad, but don't let fool you, it's good, trust me on this one. It's not my first wad that I've ever made and it's much better that most I've seen on the internet (especially the aol libraries.)

  23. Oracle...

A large alien base has been discovered by a Scout and Survey team in the Regulus Cluster on a close Terran analogue. Sensor readings show possible traces of a highly advanced technology. You've been assigned the job of exploration. Relax! Fleet Intel reports that it's 99.999% likely that the base is unoccupied and probably friendly (yeah, right!). You won't be allowed to carry any weapons in but your pistol... as usual.

FI also reports that sensors show five areas adjoining the main plaza, and suggests exploration counter-clockwise from the southeast. Some security gates and devices do seem to still show energy flows... strange. You will beamed into one location showing some anomalous energy readings.

By The Way - you wouldn't want to upgrade your insurance plan now - would you?

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
