  4. Moonlight Sonata

This was originally a map for the Doom Republic Community Wad, but since the project has appeared to have died, I thought I'd release some of my work. I guess it's somewhat hard to beat, due to the absence of medikits.

  5. Nilla DooM (Short)

A set of varied levels focused on fast, fun gameplay. My initial goal was to create maps suitable for the original engine. Most of the levels work without any problems in doom2.exe, while some may have tiny bugs here and there from the limitations. I also made this set for a quick project to whip up and release for the Doom community. Giving myself the limit of doom2.exe helped me stay focused and get these maps done before they got any bigger! Also, I think demo makers will have fun with these maps, and I hope to see some cool demos! The original set was to be 11 maps, but I have other stuff I have to work on and this was supposed to be wrapped up months ago...life sucks ;P The other 4 maps are planned and WILL be made, sort of like a special edition. Just not at the moment. Maybe after CC2...

3 Months after the invasion of earth, you and your troops are doing whatever you can to clean up the last of the demons, but they still have a good foothold in several areas. You have managed to use satellite photographs to discover one of their main supply bases. It is an abandoned small backup nuclear power plant for what used to be a thriving city. You have been orderd to capture it. Proceed with caution, the photos show that the base is heavily guarded.

  11. MONGO II

This is modified version of MONGO.WAD, which was my first DOOM wad file. While converting it to DOOM 2 format, I also took the opportunity to make it bigger and prettier.

Also a bit tougher. While I'm no Doom Master, I can polish off the easy levels with no problem. But for you masochists, I dare you to finish on Ultra Violence with a 100% kill ratio. Yeah, sure...

My aim was to make a good mix of fighting, exploring, and puzzle solving. Hope you like running and jumping! Feedback please...

  18. MAP01-Style

This is a map I created inspired by Doom 2's MAP01. I came up with the idea for a MAP01-type level way last year when the MAP01 slot for Freedoom was open, and I figured that it'd be a simple level to do. However, my little brother decided to free up some hard drive space so he could download more games, and in the process deleted my Doom2 directory AND my MP3 directory. Thus, I lost all of the work I had done on it, and gave up in despair. This summer, however, I've spent a lot of time mapping, mainly for Freedoom, and needing to take a break from that, I started a couple of other side projects, and this is one of them. I decided I would resurrect my MAP01-style map, and make it even better than my old one.

  19. Perdition's Maw

Hell has taken over the Earth and you are the only hope. You must journey to the underworld and fight Satan's spawn with deadly force. You start in a courtyard and work your way to the darkest pits of hell. Intense deathmatch action. Has unique original deathmatch starts which completely eliminate cheap frags gained from killing someone the second they start. You'll see...

Included in the MAWGFX.WAD are new graphics that replace the death scenes for a few of the monsters and a few of the gore sprites. Watch the blood fly! You'll need to have DEUSF for this or NwT or something along those lines.

In MAWSND.WAD I've collected sounds and music and put the best of the best together. Credit has to go the makers of the WADs that I borrowed the sound and music from.

  20. E1 MAP01

    The short version:

    E1M1 done MAP01 style.

    The longer version:

I'm not sure where I got the idea from exactly, but I decided I'd have a go at recreating the original Doom E1M1 in the style of Doom 2 MAP01. In that I think I've succeeded, although there is a little bit more detail in this than the original levels of either Doom 1 or 2, and I couldn't resist using a couple of new flats in places.

After I'd finished the layout, I realise I might as well have ago at improving the gameplay a bit. After all, I know it's the easiest setting, but a grand total of FOUR enemies on I'm Too Young To Die? Now there's 19 on this setting, 32 on medium and 47 on hard.

DM has also been given a fair bit of consideration, and you should find it plays considerably differently than Doom E1M1. Perhaps the most important difference is that the central outdoor area now serves as a crossroads rather than a dead end.

BTW, listen closely and even the E1M1 music has been slightly changed to more closely match the music from MAP01. Ditto for the sky.

Dumped in the middle of a mining base on Titan, a moon of Saturn, you must acquire three keys to find the exit hidden in the mining headquarters. Since the natives are definitely NOT friendly an exit is a nice thing to find.

  24. Metamorphism

We worked on this wad together for several months, each person had a week and then passed the wad on. It turned out quite successful and the process was steady. We chose upon a tech-ish theme since we already familiar with that style, and Doom was made for that ;)

This map started out for vanilla doom2.exe but we quickly pushed the limits. Several days before release however, the HOM's and VPO's were vaporized with MANY thanks to BSP. QWERTY and stx-Vile are credited with pinpointing them.

  25. Nostromo's Run for DOOM ][

Nostromo's Run takes place in an isolated station aboard some alien planet. The base was used for fighter training and mutant entertainment and features a large arena. Humans were being brought to this pleasure ground for the mutants amusement.

As a specially skilled warrior, your assignment is as follows: You will be teleported into the cellar of the main complex. You (and any you wish to have join you) are to clean out the complex of all mutants. Our intelligence sources state that the area is literally infested with all kinds of cretins so your mission will be a tough one. Ultimately, you should make your way to the arena; a large open area of which no human has escaped. Our sources also say that getting to the arena is no easy task. The base includes a large maze that can be quite confusing with shifting floors. But, I know that with your special training, you can hack it.

Nostromo's Run took me a year to complete and it's my first wad. I put so much time and energy into it that, at the time, I did not believe that I would be making a sequel. But because of the stupendous feedback I've received over the last few months, I've begun building a Nostromo's Run II and more sequeals are now in the planning stages. See details below on the Nostromo's Run Project.

Thanks for checking it out and I hope you like it. Feedback greatly appreciated

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
