  1. Doom 2 the Way id Did

Doom II The Way id Did is the long awaited sequel to 2011's Doom The Way id Did. It comprises 32 levels that endeavour to both look and play as though they've come from Dallas, 1994, from the very toiling hands of Sandy, John and American.

The idea was originally kicked about by Jason Root aka Hellbent, whose passion for the game and knack for growing enthusiasm resulted in one of the most successful community collaborations in Doomworld history – not to mention an impressive collection of more than 100 total submissions. While not quite as successful as the first project in this regard, painstaking lengths have been made by those involved to ensure that D2TWiD is as true a doppelganger of id's Doom 2 as it could ever be. And we hope that you agree! Enjoy!

  3. Zone 300

A 32 level megawad of small maps for Doom 2. Your mission is simple. Blast you way through techbases, dungeons and hellish abodes and save Earth from extinction. These maps contain no more than 300 linedefs apart from the much larger super secret level. Zone 300 = Short, quick and simple.

  6. Interception

"Interception" is a vanilla-compatible megawad for DOOM II. The story takes place in the distant future, and involves being part of a team of marines, who are sent a distress signal from an archeology site. The rest of your team is killed by some nasty hellspawns. Now it's your job to stop the invasion, or die trying. Along the way, you explore ancient military bases, an underground necropolis, and Hell itself.

This megawad contains 32 levels of pain, action, and raw fear; all of which is co-op and DM compatible! With killer atmosphere and an incredible score by XenoNemisis and stewboy, Interception takes things back to basics.

  7. Khorus' Speedy Shit

A vanilla megawad for Doom 2 containing 32 short, chaotic and challenging maps. The wad's premise was to create at least one speedmap a day. There was no set time limit, times ranged from 1.5 to 3.5 hours. Don't let the word "speedmap" scare you off though! In the author's opinion, this wad contains many of his best maps to date.

  11. Fragport

A 21st century DooM 2 episode that is big, innovative, good-looking, and of course, HARD! This wad features desert and mountain levels, and there are plenty of levels beside the sea. There are also city levels and hi-tech levels. But - every style is represented here, even if it is only 1 level! (except the Spirit-World style)

For those of you who like secrets, there are at least 3 in each level (except 25-27 and 29-32 where there are none). And you'll be pleased to know that the secret levels are VERY well hidden........

This episode combines the speed and fast-paced action that makes DooM so special with the realistic world-like adventure of newer games like Quake 2 and Half-Life.

  13. Arch-Vile Jump

You ever used the vertical boost of an Arch-Vile-Attack? It doesn't matter if you are a speedrunner or a from time to time player. With some time getting into this, this will make fun for each kind of player. The aim of this wad is to complete the maps by especially using Arch-Vile-Jumps, which describes the vertical boost of an Arch-Vile-Attack, and Rocket-Jumps without getting killed. In map32 you also have to kill monsters because they will distract you from jumping through the map.

For OpenGL ports like GZDoom and GLBoom-Plus you can add EPIC2GL.WAD after EPIC2.WAD for HI-RES skies: glboom-plus -file epic2.wad epic2gl.wad

  16. Mini-level megawad

A megawad which was 95% finished two years ago. Never got around to adding the final touches until now. The levels are relatively small, hence the name. Other than that, there's no link between them. Some are horrible, some are good. I had planned to add customized level names, rearrange the soundtracks and some other tidbits but have never done so.

  19. Congestion 384

20 levels with play limited to a 384x384 square!

The player is often able to see a larger area and monsters may cross these boundaries. The only exception is where an exit line lies close to the edge of the square, possibly allowing the players' toes to cross over before the exit is triggered.

I've also followed the intermission scheme breaking it into three eps, though the theme in the final ep is not as consistent as it could be for reasons outlined below.

All maps were developed and tested to be played in UV from a pistol start. Playing through should be possible but health may be very tight. Pacifist is at least theoretically possible but space is often meager and you may have a hard time moving forward without clearing a path.

This was originally intended to be released in Early 2007 but got left to waste after a hard disk cock-up meant half the maps were corrupted. However a couple weeks ago i was forced to take a few days bed rest due to a minor operation and, laptop close at hand, had nothing to do but catch up on some Dooming. So i resurrected the working maps, rebuilt some others and have spent another few evenings since polishing it off. Enjoy!

  23. Beyond Doom: The Apocalypse TC (an unfinished TC)

Six years later, and a new void has been ripped out of the earth... They're sending in a scout team of convicts (one of which happens to be your friend). Everything seems to go right until they get back and you go to the bathroom... Screams are heard, bullets are fired, and when you come out, there is no evidence of an attack, everyone's dead with the exception of your friend and a dying marine... He says your friend was taken, and now it's up to you to rescue him, and of course most likely save the world from utter destruction... again... you hear a familiar growl and turn to see a not-so-familiar face, and thus begins your adventure... 24. NJ Doom2

Olde replacement for Doom2. Released purely because of interest in old, cheesy 1994 WADS.

This is not the first version of this file. It may be based on an early revision but this one has been "legalised" by removing maps 31 and 32 which were just edited version of the Id originals to make them a little more like the Wolf originals.

It is likely that this is not even based on the original version of NJDoom but an early revision.

The file date indicated a December 1994 release which may or may not be accurate. This file was originally uploaded to the Compuserve action games forum in 1994.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
