  1. Caverns of Darkness patch for ZDoom

A small patch for ZDoom to play Caverns of Darkness by the Chaos Crew. This mod requires a customized EXE which unfortunately is a DOS version that causes massive problems with newer Windows XP systems This patch allows to play this WAD with a modern source port : This is hopefully the final version of this patch It is the first one only using officially documented ZDoom features to achieve its goal.

  5. Betelgeuse

    - Varied style, but all floating in sideral space. - The map has only platforms and columns, so don't fall. There are also some wide areas. - A lot of different textures: hellish, futurist... A little of all. - A Dehacked patch. I recommend you use it, makes the game innovative and unreal. - Some new monsters: * ZOMBIE MARINE: A brown Doom marine. * ROCKET GUY: A zombie soldier with a bazooka, can beat you with only one shot. * ZOMBIE RAILGUNNER: A soldier with a laser weapon. Be careful. * ZOMBIE BFG: Hmm, doesn't need comments... Feel the pain of a BFG 9000's blast. * STEALTH FIGHTER: Transparent sodier/cyborg. - These monsters come, as usual, from ftp://archives.3dgamers.com/pub/idgames/combos (monsters.zip) - Besides the new monsters, I modified some of the original Doom enemies: * Fast imps, attack with the manucubus' fire. * Transparent Lost Souls. * The cacodemons' fireballs are invisible. * The Cyberdemon's rockets (and yours) are destructible. * Increased attack power for arachnotrons. * Etc, etc... - New sounds: * Taking a powerup, item or weapon. * Firing the pistol, shotgun, chaingun or plasma rifle. * Some monster's attacks. * Opening and closing doors. * Destroying Lost Souls.

After a hard battle in the dark corridors inside a base, you reach an unknown zone. You ask yourself, "Where the fuck I am?". You'll find it in a short time. You're in the citadel, the prologue to the damned city.

  8. Shoot!

The aim was to create a level with a classic approach to custom pwad making. In other words, I just wanted to make an old school Doom 2 map with lots of fun action, a hard pumped midi track, no custom textures besides the sky and a short no-bullshit title!

I tested it with zDoom and it works fine in PRboom also. A limit removing sourceport is needed, zDoom recommended. And please avoid the use of jump and crouch features.

  10. Aberration Caves.

Set in underground caves - this map uses Quake1 textures with a tech base theme with some temple thrown in. There is only one skill level as per usual with all my levels, but it should be do-able in the first attempt.

Remember this is set in a cave... so don't whine about falling in to pits and not having a teleporter there. You deserve to die you clumbsy git!

I would say this is my best level to date. Even more so than "Dark Apparition", if I may be so bold. I have two more Quake1 themed in the pipeline...

  12. Square Of Destruction!

This was meant for another project but hey! Its a Doom 2 map with some new textures! It uses slot Map09. It should take about 8-10 min to play depending on the skill level.

    Main features:

    1. One new level.

    2.New textures

    3. The type of monsters that appear is depending on the skill level, so the higher the skill does not just mean more monsters.

    4. Map tweeked for deathmatch play. The map should play best with 6-12 people.

  14. Belial's Bad Brain

One level for any limit removing ports. PrBoom-Plus or (G)ZDoom are recommended.

This level is improved version of my map for speedmap contest on iddqd(point)ru on which all competitors were limited with four hours and with common theme. I hope all players who liked my "Generator of Evil" will like this level too.

If this level is too hard for you, then you can watch in-wad demo1 by Nikolay "Heretic" Kamnev. Compatible port like prboom-plus is needed in this case.

    Important:

Do not play this level in the current vanilla PrBoom (up to 2.4.8 for now), because of all existing versions of PrBoom are buggy on levels with big open areas - precision problems. Use PrBoom-Plus instead of classic PrBoom.

The latest Eternity release (3.33.33) also can't handle this map correctly - the same precision problems.

  15. Base One

"They say the base was built on an old Druid castle..." This is the first map I have made in years. I came across the new Edge release and thought I would try it out and see if I could still create a Doom map after so long a time. This isn't a large map but might be good for half an hour, maybe an hour, of play. You will need to jump and crouch in spots to access some areas. Use the "move up" key to climb the ladder. This map doesn't use any fancy DDF/RTS. It is a fairly standard shoot/switch/key map with a few puzzles (including a Doom classic) and some 3D stuff thrown in.

My second level for Doom 2.There's technology, hell and cavern themes here.

    Doom 64 MArine explains:

After killing more demons in the episode I call "The Outcast Levels",I thought that wouldn't have anymore open gates.I was wrong. But the biggest problem, the Motherdemon,is dead. Now I belive that the invasion will come to an end.Say it to your commander when he communicates with you. The commander says to you go to Drilla,an excavation site.Something is wrong in the lower part of the place.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
