  6. Hellish Lab of Barons

    A couple of levels done a long time ago (end of 2009-2010) MAP01 was used in First-Try Demo Contest #8 at 01.06.2012 (beat an unknown map which will be posted at specified time for all participants as fast as possible, sending demo file as a proof). All demos from the contest are in "fdc8demo" subdirectory. MAP02 has been done earlier and uses only original IWAD textures.

  7. Steambot Impy

    It is a rather small map, my first one, that i made to test my skills and familiarize with the GZDoom builder. I always wanted something steampunk'ish to play, so this is a small cargo steamship teleported into a hellish dimension and now full of demons and former crew members (roughly sixty monsters-full). It needs GZDoom and Doom 2 to play.

    Any criticism is appreciated - maybe i'll make something better next time.

    Your town is mostly evacuated. Those crazy enough to stay have perished, except you… so far. The last local news broadcasts warned of packs of wild animals, or perhaps some other creatures, swiftly descending on the city. The invading hordes have finally made it to your neighborhood. The barricades that you and the neighbors set up in the street barely slowed the advance of the monsters. Seeing this, you grabbed your pistol and shotgun for safety and hid in the attic, waiting for the swarm of beastly creatures to wreak their havoc and move on. Unfortunately, some have stayed, using your house as a base. Their numbers would have made a straight-on fight impossible, but maybe if you surprise them... They don’t seem to have any intention of leaving, and you can’t live in the attic forever. It’s time to fight back and reclaim your house and your neighborhood!

  15. Hospital of Horrors

    It was another demonic outbreak. Many cities had fallen. Forces of hell had wiped out 50% of population of the USA. There is a hospital located on the Grimes Street. When the invasion started, many scientists began studying the corpses of demons in order to find their weaknesses. One day all goes wrong and hospital is overrun. The most of people inside are slain or zombified. You must investigate the hospital in order to make it safe again.

  19. Secretdoom: The Green Machine

    A hell gate rose within the Congo Sector's main stronghold and its spawn completely destroyed all of the marines within the area. The main stronghold was built to house "The Green Machine" which was deactivated shortly before the invasion. Your mission is to reactivate the machine and regain control over the Congo Sector and its strongholds. The perimeter of the area is too highly protected, so the only way to progress deeper within the sector is by using the hell spawn's teleportation systems. You've been dispatched nearby the Congo Sector inside of an outpost. It's gonna be hard, but if you fail, the war will be lost.

  21. Impure Offering

    Impure Offering is a single player map for the Doom 2 IWAD in -complevel 9 that plays in the map 20 slot and requires cc4-tex.wad. The original intent was to create a map inspired by map 02 of Vanguard, but with a very-high, at times slaughter-ish, monster count and fierce difficulty. I don't think it actually ended up playing anything like any map Skillsaw has ever made, but I am very happy with the result regardless.

    The "fierce difficulty" aspect certainly is in evidence in the final product, though. Skill levels have been implemented -- HMP is akin to the earlier parts of Scythe's third episode on UV, and keeps the overall pressure mostly intact, with its main concessions being the removal of some of the most troublesome individuals. HNTR is more of a "traditional run-n-gun UV" experience. Impure Offering on UV is intended to be a real challenge, and should shed some blood from even the most skilled Doomers.

      I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

      Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

      A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

      Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

      I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
