  1. SargeBaldy Speedmapping Compilation #3

This is a compilation of the WADs entered in SargeBaldy's third speedmapping exercise. Participants were given 100 minutes to create a Doom 2 level on a certain theme. This week's theme was to make a map based off this scenario:

"The Doom Marine stands on a dirt path which stops abruptly near a menacing castle. Within that castle there is the keep in which lives Queen Hissy, last of the cacodemons, the very same who ordered the slaughter of your pet rabbit, Daisy. You must find a way to get into the keep and kill Hissy no matter what the danger. This time, it's personal."

This is a compilation of the WADs entered in SargeBaldy's fourth speedmapping exercise. Participants were given 100 minutes to create a Doom 2 level on a certain theme. This week's theme was to create an ep4-style hellish map, but do so making the design vaguely reminiscent of Central Processing (E1M6).

This is a compilation of the WADs entered in SargeBaldy's fourth speedmapping exercise. Participants were given 100 minutes to create a Doom 2 level on a certain theme. This week's theme was to make a UAC research lab of some sort that is having serious power difficulties.

The second map in this set requires ZDoom.

  4. Kill the Cybie

This is a quick single player version of narcosis.wad since it was requested by a few people.

Get the bfg, then kill the cyberdemon to win the game.

This is supposed to be played with ZDoom, as the level won't end with other ports, and some other minor stuff.

  7. Short 'n Quick 2

After all these months, I bring you my third map, Short 'n Quick 2 - and this time, it's not that Short 'n Quick :)

The look of this level may remind you a bit of Christian Hansen's 'Flay the Obscene 3', but it's actually based on the look I planned for 'The Anomaly: Part III' (which I started long long ago, but never completed). But since flayobs3.wad also happens to be one of my favourite levels, certain elements here are inspired by that level (Great job Chris, on those levels!).

The layout of the map is done in such a way that you can actually go ANYWHERE you want to and chose a route that you feel best. Some routes make the level more hard and some routes make it easier.

The whole map is quite well interconnected, so you can play deathmatch too if you want to. But since I've never ever played DM or even designed a DM map, I don't know how good or bad this level is for DM. You decide :)

  8. Underworld BETA - release 4

Great conversion with new weapons, textures, levels, enemies, sounds, music, etc... You'll have fun playing this!

*NOTE: Someone who doesn't seem to want to come forward did stuff with this project and re-released it as beta 4. They could have a least notified me first... Well anyway, this is the REAL beta 4.

  9. Telesky

Demo level of some nice ACS effect. It demonstartes <-- IMPORTANT! READ IT! "portal" teleporters, similar to Q3A's or Unreal's teleporters. It uses ZDoom's sky box specials, so you need some of the ZDoom 1.23 beta versions or highter. The effect has some limitations though. Since the sky- box seems to be rendered always from the same angle you can't place the portal teleporters where you want them. They have to be in a 90° angle to each other Just look at the wad how to place them. I hope you like this effect. If you do, feel free to drop me a line :)

  10. Townhouses (Zdoom/cs doom version)

Have you ever wanted to snipe your neighbors? Well you can now snipe mine. The are five complete houses The idea here is to go from house to house killing the inhabitants. This is a VERY detailed level. There are about 2500 sectors. I believe it may be THE most detailed level made for doom2. OH,.. and watch out for my mailman. He carries a gun.. (go figure!)

5 areas that are all different. You must complete one to move on to the next. The concept for this level was to start off with the first room being a pentagon and then add 5 rooms on to it. I thought I was making up a word by changing "sides" (like the sides of the pentagon) to "Sidus". I am especially proud of the hidden pyramid room.

  19. Short 'n Quick

I started building this level almost a year ago, but with all my school work, I didn't have the time to finish it. I added some rooms and refined some of the areas and there you have it... a new map!

Note that this is NOT my best work so far. My 9th Gate maps will be better.

And by the way, this is a tech-styled map taking place in a warehouse (sort of).

You had no idea when you warped into the base that you would have such a fight on your hands - after all it was only a supply and recreation base planetside and the scans had showed no signs of life - not as you knew it anyway. But within minutes your three buddies had been iced and the ground was littered with gore. You stepped back into the alcove to catch your breath, knowing that the warp point out of the place was some way away. With no more than a pistol, hope, and your innate belief in yourself and your ability to overcome the odds whatever they might be, you step forward into the unknown ...

  24. The Lost Seraphim

A 4-level addon for ZDOOM v1.22. You can most likely use zdoom V1.23 and higher, but I never tested it with those versions. The architecture isn't as good as I wanted it to be in map03, but thats because I had to limit it due to the map's sheer size. A dehacked patch is included inside the wad file along with a new storyline. The plasma gun and the BFG are replaced with Seraphin's Light and Seraphin's Spirit. The fist is UNUSABLE and if you try to use it, you will be rendered HELPLESS. I have included a chainsaw at the start of every level to make up for this. Here are the specs on the new weapons:

Seraphin's Light => replaces plasma gun; just like your fists, but for one thing: one hit will kill ANY monster (you heard me). Use it wisely.. Very effective in close combat against cyberdemons, barons, etc...

Seraphin's Spirit => replaces BFG9000; releases a gray bfg blast that does the same damage as the Seraphin Punch. The only difference is that it moves (VERY slowly) and that after it explodes, it acts just like a bfg. Very handy against a big guy + lesser enemies combo. Get close, hit the big guy and let the lesser enemies catch the explosion. Be warned! This takes a while to recharge...

Seraphim's Light uses up 1 cell per punch.

Seraphim's Spirit uses up 2 cells per shot.

energy cell = 1 energy cell shot

bulk cell = 5 energy cell shots

P.S. Yeah, yeah.. I know a Seraphim has 6 wings, but hey.. YOU try finding a picture of a Seraphim :)

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
