  4. Siggi's "heh" Speedmaps

This is the result of one working week of attempting to make complete maps in the shortest possible time. Each map was made in one about afternoon.

The result is an episode of 5 small monster filled levels, which I find challenging to play. I imagine these maps will appeal to players who apreciate older more challenging maps, but keep in mind the amount of time spent making the maps does show in their quality.

  10. Town

My brother and I have built over 50 levels to date. Five of our earlier levels, were released on the Book/CD ROM 'Tricks of the DOOM Programming Gurus' by SAMS Publishing. This wad file is meant to represent a small community over run by the hell spawn. I have taken time in the detail of the level wooden supports grassy spots small sidewalks pictures on the wall and fireplaces ect. The level is difficult but not impossible by any means, and also makes a great deathmatch level as it is not impossibly big. There are a few suprises but no anoying traps or puzzles to solve, I hate those.

  11. Ungrateful Dead

Can you blame them if they're a little peeved when, level after level, you constantly slaughter them? This time, however, they're ready for you and they've prepared a quite a few surprises.

NOTE: The author mentions Twisfx.wad that was supposed to be included in the zip, but wasn't found. It is most likely the same Twisfx.wad that is included with Andy Badorek's Twilight Lab WAD (twilab.zip).

  12. Simply Dead

This is a fun level for Doom 2 called Simply Dead. You kill 2 hanging toy like things and a fatso and then have some hard fights with archviles and the exit is really interesting. I dont know why people hate my levels but I think you will like this because I tried my hardest to get the layout done to perfection.

  16. Toxic Cove

A heavily Alien Vendetta Map10 (by Kim Malde, titled "Toxic Touch") inspired sewer map, initially created in roughly 110 minutes in early March. The map is mildly challenging, and there is one trap in particular that is quite nasty if you don't know what's coming (it's only so bad on UV). As I was not completely satisfied with the original attempt, detail has been added, textures aligned, and one room got a complete change in structure. The level of detail is still similar to that of Toxic Touch. Keep in mind that slime will not harm you, with the exception of the large pool in one of the final rooms.

Map01 is the touched-up version of the map, while Map02 is the original (with a few minor bugs fixed, however). Map02 has no skill settings, and so it is nearly identical to Map01 on UV.

  19. Temple

The Inca civilization flourished in present day Peru from accent times to the 1500's .In the 1500's Spanish conquered the Inca's. Some escaped and made small cities or blended with others. Some time before World War II one such cites discovered. After World War II the U.S. funding was taken out because of the arms race with the U.S.S.R. Once the U.S. funding was taken out the project stopped. During the Kennedy years people from the peace corps put renewed interest into the area, but the scientist keep the land. After the cold war's end the money was finally able to be used. So after fifty years the site was being excavated, but soon after the workers got there they began to disappear. Rumors of Icas still alive spread to the media . So the government wants to know why after so many years they can't find out what it is. So, you take a look and what do you find??? Not Inca's, not Russians, but Imps, demons, barons, and revenants. Your job is to take them out and try to keep the temple safe.

  22. Spell of the Archvile

This is an awesome level for Doom2, much better than my older maps. theres no wall dots, and it looks awesome and dark. You mission is to try and find the blue key. It is guarded by 2 Archviles and you don't have much ammo. But a mixture of Shaved Gorillas, Blue Men with Guns, Kakoka Balls, a Pink Knight, a dark trooper, bald guys with rifels and little brown guys with pins in their shoulders will try and stop you from getting to the viles, along with the Barrels that explode with very very much violence. Once you steal the Key, you head back to the start and open the door, oh ohh 4 scary ghosts or ghouls will try to get you. They are scarier than Cyberdemon!

  23. The Adventures of Sub

In SUB you're a well trained soldier of the German spy organisation, CIA. You've found out that USA have started an operation called "dungeon-blazt", this operation is about a bomb which could destroy your whole homecountry Germany. So you must stop USA from succes of this operation!

Your mission will first be to get inside US.Submarine, a well guarded one. Once you done that you must eliminate the whole crew and get the submarine in control, to do this you must first make the machine "active" and after that you have to find another "active switch" that will make the submarine move! Now you can make the submarine move to US secret area in the pacific ocean. As you made it to that area you will use your virus to the main computer in the "Bomb-Room", that virus will make it impossible for USA to launch the A-Bomb!

When that is done you can go to US Helicopter that will take you home! If this will succed, USA will probably start a war and if that happens you must kill USA's president! GOOD LUCK!

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
