  4. Starport v1.7

Starport is a high-tech level containing new music (the theme from Halloween), floor, ceiling and wall textures as well as a couple of new sounds and sprites.

The level itself resembles some type of futuristic starbase. The level contains several large interconnected rooms, such as a shuttlebay, airlock and computer room built around a centralized pool of acid.

As a hidden bonus, many of the rooms are interconnected through a series of hidden tunnels and ventilation ducts, which make great hiding places in deathmatch.

NOTE: In order to use this WAD, you must unzip the file STARPT17.ZIP into your DOOM2 directory and type INSTALL, you can then move the WAD to any directory you want.

  10. SELFISH4

Part 4 of the Selfish series for Doom II, this level runs on any port. This level was originally intedned for Plutonia 2 but that project has been dead for 2 years, I'm not going to waste levels for dead projects. It is the smallest map in the Selfish series but certinally the most challenging. The theme is not constant, mainly brown but with a bit of techbase.

  11. Trouble on Titan

Well, you know the story. UAC keeps sending you different places on Titan to investigate various strange occurences. You keep telling them that there are aliens on Titan. You reported this after nearly getting your head taken off in the Mines. You told them again when they lost the Anomaly site. Your investigation of the loss of communication at the Farside base also mentioned this. They're starting to believe you, I think, except for the Psychology department anyway - they're still holding out for their space psychosis theory. Its a compromise, you're being sent again, but as usual, you only get a pistol... just in case there aren't any aliens after all.

  12. Sky Base

It is the future. Man has polluted the atmosphere to the point where we can no longer safely breathe it. Large, floating atmospheric reprocessors have been created to help repair the atmosphere. It will be a long process. A few years after the "skybases" went online, mankind got a big wakeup call. Our first (and maybe our last) alien encounter has happened. The alien race (thier names are unknown) have intercepted our transmissions that we make in every day life (TV, radio, ...) and have learned our communications, technology, languages, and our plight. But rather than help out, they would rather have the planet for thier own! You see, the atmosphere is perfect for them, so why not let us die out. They destroyed all but one reprocesor. The remaining reprocessor has been reverse engineered to cause more harm to our atmosphere. This must be stopped. Listening to thier transmissions, and logging into the skybase mainframe (for some reason, they didn't prohibit that), we have learned that many people who died on the skybase have been electronically ressurected to help serve them. Also, many traps have been set for anyone who tries to land and "be the hero". Luckily they weren't prepared for you! Your mission is to kick ass and shutdown/disable the base. As you circle the base in your shuttle, you see them laughing at you. Good ...underestimation allowed David to beat Goliath. Make the fuckers pay!!!

  23. I.S.M. - Incredible Shrinking Marine...

A report has been sent to you revealing the location of one the Icon's many homes. You will be beamed into a nearby office thought to be a cover for demonic goings on. There are rumours that the Icon is in fact man-sized and uses machinery in this house to change to it's size to the more 'well-known' bulk. It would be nice if you could find this machine and trash it (have a go in it first if you find it.. go on!) Good luck. Beware that this level is a paradox! And don't be too greedy at the end!!

New graphics created / modified on an Acorn RISC PC and converted to BMP's using !ChangeFSI and !ToBMP software.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
