  6. Think Twice

A dark, medium-sized, asymmetrical WAD. Nothing fancy, but has variety and allows strategy, so it's very playable.

NOTE: difficulty settings 1-2 are specially furnished (bonuses, weapons, monsters) for altdeathmatch with monster respawn ON. - HMP and UV are designed primarily for single player games.

How many times can you play the same WAD before getting bored...?

  10. Saturn Communications Complex

A communications base that makes a pretty damn good level... Not a lot of story really. This is going to be included in a major DOOM 2 project tennatively called 'BIGGER' due out in a couple of months... It's gonna replace all 32 levels... (ambitious, huh?) (A little too ambitious... It never got finished so I'm releasing it as a single level...)

  11. Skull Hall

Marine Private Sparks having completed boot was on a short leave. While touring the countryside with his sweet baby.....Babs, he chanced upon the Sarge's secret Hole-in the-Wall. Armed with but a revolver Sparks brought that house down! Recovering from wounds incured he got id in his skull that Special Forces was his calling...he had to forget about Babs...poor girl. None had seen her since his heroic though foolhardy attack on the Sargent's lair. UAC did find a lock of her hair.....bloodied. Something hadn't felt right during and after his Special Forces interview with Sgt. Magnus. The sarge, though posesser of a sparkling military record was somehow...illegitamate. So said Sparks gut level feeling. And why did he persistently break into mindless laughter? Sparks was, of course, admitted to SF training. He passed but not before sustaining some rather severe "hard to explain" injuries. One night, quite late, while recuperating Sparks logged onto the UAC BBS to check e-mail and there id was a brief cut-off message from Babs..." Magnus is one of them.. a mindless HellBeast, DON'T " and that was it. Babs was alive and Magnus was Hell Spawn! Unbeknowst to Sparks, Magnus had him under constant surveilance. Before Sprks logged off that night Magnus had trumped up new orders for him. UAC had been working on time travel and had maxed out work with animals. They now needed a human "volunteer". A few electronic manuvers by Magnus and the Time Brigade from UAC was hustling their volunteer Sparks to the transport pod. Will Sparks survive the transport? Where will he be sent? And if he survives how will he get back to give Magnus his due and maybe, just maybe be able to pull Babs close once again and whisper those sweet nothings in her ear!

  12. The City (at night)

You start walking down the sidewalk, staring at the blue sky. Then from out of nowhere you see men with shotguns start blowing the other pedestrians away! Remembering your guerilla warfare training you duck into an alley. You pray to god you can make it out of the city alive! You hear a thug walk into the alley after you! You hide in the shadows and surprise him, breaking his neck then taking his weapon: a pistol! Well, it's not much but it's better than your bare hands!

  14. TEMPLE21.WAD "Temple of Doom ][--Entry" Level 1 Version 2.01

It's now time to rebuild earth. However, before you can clean up, you have to make a mess first. Despite the fall of the huge goat headed demon, pockets of worship still exist on earth.

Since, by most reckonings, you are the toughest thing in this dimension and the next, you were chosen to infiltrate and destroy the TEMPLE OF DOOM ][. Besides, Harrison Ford was busy.

You can't believe your superior's stupidity. They only let you have your ubiquitous pistol. After all, they said, this is an undercover operation. Too bad you don't look like a demon or zombie. As soon as you tried to enter they gassed you and tossed you into a pit.

  17. Torment

This is a six level WAD for DOOM II that is designed to work great as either a Deathmatch, Co- Op, or single player game. All levels have every weapon (except the BFG) and the levels are designed so that the more powerful weapons are slightly harder to get to. (to make deathmatch more interesting, and to help balance single player games) There are lots of clever secrets and great-looking architecture. This WAD also includes original music written by me, and a brand - new status bar. Also I have included (stolen) lots of cool sound FX from various other wads. For more info, check out the *Additional Notes* section at the end of this file.

  18. Scream

This level is made with co-op and Deathmatchers in mind, with varied terrain and viewpoints from which to snipe friends and enemies alike. An area of mineshafts and tunnels coupled with very intricate layouts make this a very challenging level. Not suited for solo only because one of the keys requires two players to locate. (HINT) For co-op, several areas require teamwork to clear, especially in locating the keys, or in seeing how switches alter the layout. Search and explore!

  20. Scourge2

This level is made with rookies and serious Deathmatchers in mind, with varied terrain and viewpoints from which to snipe friends and enemies alike. Conserve ammo, take advantage of cover and concealment and run like hell. More of what the original Scourge.wad was only worse. The carnage involved in acquiring the red key is worth the download alone. (Replaces previous upload of Scourge2.wad to correct goofs)

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
