  1. SYMOHOME.WAD

Oh shame! Just back from walking the elephant and what happens? Bloody hellspawn again! Have to frag 'em I suppose. What a life, eh? This level is fairly HARD to complete, but fun to explore and even more fun in multi-player mode! New graphics created on an Acorn RISC PC (what's that?) and converted to BMP's using !ChangeFSI and !ToBMP software.

  3. The Therion Project

Therion is a five level add-on for doom 2. It is still in the works, and a 15 level demo is due out soon (like nov 2003). The levels are single player/co-op. Therion does not really have a story yet, but by the time the finished version comes out, the story will be done.

  4. The Twin Brothers

In the room with 'star', there is a guy looking exactely the same as you. I know that you're unique, but that's not a reason for shooting him down! If you want to, try to kill him; you will not survive to his death... This guy is a genetical copy of yourself which is locked up in a building so that the owners have full-control over you. The problem is that some people decided that you weren't of any utility to the society. That's the reason why they let the job of killing the copy to plenty of ugly and starving monsters. In fact they have two ways of successing in their glorious mission: killing the copy or, even better, the original. You do not have the choice: you will have to protect him from yourself and from the monsters. If he looses 100 of health, even if you still have 30 percent of your health, you'll die. But you'll have to be very careful because places that were cleaned up could suddenly become full of killers again.

þ Huge level and therefore very slow even on 486 66MHZ computers.
þ 'Living' level (what a paradox...) because of a lot of sectors tags (approximately 40)
    þ No BFG9000

  5. Tenacity

The name of the level simply comes from the fact that you will have to be very tough to finish such a huge and complex level. I included a demo of myself finishing the level in ultra-violence mode. This level is designeg for running with a PCI Pentium faster than 66Mhz. It will be too slow on every 486 computer. No BFG9000

Have you ever wanted to snipe your neighbors? Well you can now snipe mine. The are five complete houses The idea here is to go from house to house killing the inhabitants. This is a VERY detailed level. There are about 2500 sectors. I believe it may be THE most detailed level made for doom2. OH,.. and watch out for my mailman. He carries a gun.. (go figure!)

  7. SCIENTIST

It is written in the Holy Bible:

"Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. [...] They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us."
    - 1 John 2 18-19

"Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see wheather they are from God, because many false prophets have gone into the world"
    - 1 John 4 1

"Many deceivers, [...] have gone into the world. Any such person is the Deceiver and the Antichrist."
    - 2 John 7

In the year 2055 it is clear to mankind who the deceivers are that John spoke of in his Apocalypse.

For some hundred years they have revealed themselfs in great numbers. Their numbers kept growing and so did the number of their followers. They said they were just ordinairy people but they do not fully believe in the way of God. They only believe in their way.

These spirits cannot be trusted. They falsly claim their way is the path to true knowledge and call this false prophecy SCIENCE.

Many of these deceivers are among us now. Any one of them is the Deceiver and the Antichrist who calls himself SCIENTIST.

*NOTE*: Please do not take this story to seriously; There is no quarrel between Science and God (since one of them does not exist).

  8. UAC

I made this just out of boredom. I originally intended it to be the "official UAC building," and went from there. I've been working on it since sometime in 2000 on and off (more of the off). I only recently converted it to Doom II format so I can use the additional monsters. I tried to include a lot of detail in the level and keep it interesting. The typical scheme of the levels is that humans are inside, monsters are outside. I plan to have several outside levels later on.

Yeah, the name sounds stupid, nonetheless the level isn't too bad :). This is basically a rather straight walk-through blast-away level. Among its highlights are some nice secrets, however there are very few good design elements. The level is REALLY tough on Ultra Violence, even I have a hard time beating it :o).

  12. Chemical Plant

Well, this one is a real upgrade from the last! And no, the reason it was eleven months between this and the last one was NOT because I spent all that time working on this one. :)

This map is representative of what is to come in CXN. Maybe it's not the most varied or excellently-designed of my maps, but it's damn good nonetheless (when compared to my previous efforts in this series). Eleven months is a good long time to improve your mapping skills....

The level is good for speedrunning and fast, unbridled madness in gameplay. It should keep demorecorders busy.

  13. SlayeR.wad, Issue 2.

11 SP & 4 DM maps for DooM2. 2.4 Mb when unzipped. Issue2 contains a few bug fixes.

You need a registered version of DooM2 or Final Doom to play this. This wad is not exclusive to any source port and will run with v1.9.

These maps are mainly small but 'ultra-violent' - you won't find many 'former humans' here!! Very challenging - be warned!

The DM maps were never playtested so if they are crap, sorry!

Map 31 is an unfished map by Malcolm Sailor which I have modified.

  20. Serenity III -- Map11

This is an old and unreleased level by one of the 'second generation' Doom level designers - Holger Nathrath, whose levels appeared in S*T*R*A*I*N, a great TC. (those levels for the record being 17, 26 and 32, which were altered to fit in to S*T*R*A*I*N). What Holger was better known for was his partnership with Björn Hermans on Serenity, Eternity and Infinity, three Doom I episodes. They then started work on a Doom II Serenity episode, which was never finished. As I asked Björn to do some work on TOJ, he gave me this map, which I unforunately could not fit into TOJ (easily). It is really a unique work that belongs somewhere else...

Be forewarned that, as with his S*T*R*A*I*N levels, the ammo can get dangerously low on this map. Also, I (Metabolist) cannot personally guarantee, with my hand on my heart, the stability of the map. But enjoy it nonetheless, as it is probably the last Doom level by this mapmeister to be released in this world. (He is now project leader of a "Virtual City Project" -- Neocron)

  21. Omega Facility

For those of you who have played through my previous levels and expect all of them to be smallish, like the existing ones, then prepare yourself for a major change. This my largest independent map (so far ;-) that I can still call coherent, weighing in at 300k but still being perfectly playable. It's like four small maps joined together to make one large base. It's totally non-linear, and there are about six or seven distinctive areas in it. Demo-recorders should have lots of fun finding all different routes through here... On the last day, I found that ZenNode refused to compile the map's nodes without crashing, and I also found that it had screwed up the map into random junk, and I basically said "AAAARGGGHHH!!!!!!". I had a backup copy though, and I recompiled it with my trusty BSP.

  23. Ice Station Alpha

After you cleared out the military outpost, you stepped into a teleporter with demonic designs on it. This teleported you to the first strategically important part of your campaign: the north of the country, where steep valleys and cuttings of ice are being drilled through to find minerals and pure water. Your mission in this level is to clear out the ice station and make your way to the Supply Depot.

A single-player level for Doom II v1.9 featuring some modified monsters (look out for that green Former-Marine), and a few very nasty puzzles/traps near the exit.

New to version 2: - removed the illegal doom2.exe file and added an equivalent DeHackEd patch. - combined the three wad files (map, textures and sounds/sprites) into a single wad. - this distribution contains only 3 files: tsc2.deh tsc2.wad tsc2.txt

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
