  2. The Descent

    10 Map hub for Hexen.

A serpent-infested complex reveals portals to various hells. The player must find a way to close the portals for good.

Aiming for fairly quick time between sections, for a slightly faster pace than original Hexen. I've managed to learn a bit about scripting and have included some cross-map triggers, building platforms out of lava, earthquakes, ambient sounds, traps and flavor descriptions. Also making use of custom music and the "fade" function.

  3. Dregmere Dam

Long forgotten barrow-dam now infested with swamp creatures. Still seems to have a glimmer of life, as the torches are still lit and the doors and switches still operate. Who knows what lurks within the old dam complex...

My first Hexen level: a large map with swamps, waterfalls, dam complexes, mountainous areas and a half sunken city. Some secret and non-essential areas also exist for exploration.

  4. Dreadnaught...a complete hub for Hexen

In Dreadnaught you are Kane, an immortal who was doomed to roam the Earth by the god that created you. The punishment levelled at you for killing your own brother and thus brought terrible violence to the Earth. The irony is that the god was a corrupt and cynical part of the supernatural universe overruling Earth and you, Kane, rebelled against being used as a pawn. Your adventures take place in all ages of Earth. Your sword and battle prowess is at the service of any ruler who can pay your price. You are a true anti-hero who changes sides to suit your own advantage and mood. You never age and remain as old as you were when the god cursed you. You can be killed but up to now no human has come close to doing so.

A complete 5 level hub. Scotts Portals, is the beginning of your long and tasking journey. From here you will have access to the other four levels. You will have to complete the first three, The Swamps of Thark, The Tomb of Quarix and The Palace of Ice before you get access to Veda's Vault. Once Veda's Vault is conquered you will revisit Scott's Portals to finish off the ramaining beasts and ghosts of days gone before you free yourself from the curse that was cast upon your soul.

  7. THE DARK PORTAL

This is the first-ever Hexen HUB created by 3D Delta Developers. Many pain-staking hours of production have been used to perfect the workmanship in these five handcrafted levels. We kept the same theme that Id Software (c) and Raven Software (c) originally planned for their own master WAD (Seven Gates, Ice, Fire, Steel, Etc.), but we added new twists and turns that are sure to please the dedicated Hexen fan. The hub ends in an exciting conclusion that can only be experienced by completing every puzzle and hitting (almost ) every switch. We have play-tested this hub for hundreds of hours, searching for every bug, so you don't have to! Each board contains around 300 or so lines of script code, but none of these boards compare to our steel board's 1000 lines of code! This heavily developed code gives the hardest puzzles that extra edge: randomization! Each level averages around 300,000 bytes a piece! This is the largest hub around! We also took full advantage of the "Ethereal travel" by making the players warp from board-to-board for puzzle solving fun, rather than the "Head-straight-for-the-end-switch" routine where you run, well, straight to the end-- just to get to the next board! That was no challenge for us. BE WARNED: only the most advanced players will tough out the challenges that we throw at them; so, are you up to our challenge? -- Roots/CoFounder Of 3D

  10. DTB Battle

Takes place in an old castle. The best part about this wad is that no matter where you start, you have a chance. So after your buddy whoops you you can come right back and whoop him. There are no places to hide and stock up on ammo and stuff so don't bother to look for a safe spot. This wad keeps the Action going. There is even a stream and a beautifull 2000 foot waterfall.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
