  3. Lithium's Movie Score PWAD

I'm bored tonight so I thought I'd make myself a music PWAD and share it with the Internet community. :) This wad contains 9 .MIDs of songs from famous movies. I just threw this together to have something to listen to during modoom so if it doesn't fit your tastes, don't download it. :) This sounds fine on my GUS but I have no idea how it sounds on other cards. Here's a list of what's on it:

  4. JJs-Jams.WAD

This is my own hacked together music file that I first put together to see if I could. It eventually evolved into something alot bigger than I first expected. I've ended up replacing all the music for all levels of all episodes. Some of my selections were for comedy, some for seriousness, but most were for fun. I've decided to inflict my personal taste in music upon everyone else. Enjoy!

: These MIDI files were origionally done for the GUS. They do sound alright on a SB-16, but only GUS owners will get the true fullfilment of my music selections.

  5. POP-MUSIC for DOOM

Welcome to the POP-MUSIC WAD for DOOM.

This WAD add's a little more modern music into Doom with some tunes you no doubt will know and maybe enjoy.
The music only replaces Episode One at the moment, maybe Ill do the others if I get some positive feedback.

To really benefit from this WAD you need a decent soundcard that supports General MIDI.
    SoundBlaster16+WaveBlaster
    SoundBlaster AWE32
    Gravis Ultrasound
    etc....
    All do the job well.

  8. Various Artists Music Wad

Music from Various Artists. I got these from midi files I have downloaded from all over the internet. These midifiles are excellent reproductions of the actual recorded versions of the songs.

Songs From: Nirvana, The Who, Seal, U2, Queen and others

The D_INTER and D_INTRO were taken (and slightly edited :) from the XWing midi files used in the swmusfx#.wad. I used these because it is what I would have used in the D_INTER and D_INTRO sections if I made the swmusfx#.wad series and it seemed to fit into my frame of mind at the time I decided to do this.

NOTE TO Star Wars fans and Chris Hopkins: There is a new Star Wars song in this file that I converted from an Amiga SMUS file. It is a very well made recreation of the Empire Strikes Back finale song (Though it is only 4 channels it sounds great). You may want to use it in a future version of the swmusfx wad file. The song is on E2M4.

  11. DOOM CLSMUSIC.ZIP

Okay, this is a new collection of assorted classical pieces that I put together for Doom. Out of respect for Scott's great collection of music for Episode One, this CLASMUS.WAD replaces the music in Episode 2.
The composers are assorted, but as in Scott's package, I recommend playing through the levels first and then taking a peek at who the composers were.
Sources for these files range from the Internet collection of MIDIs, to a number of pieces arranged by a friend and myself (#3, #8 and #9 to be exact).
My list of composers is somewhat incomplete; if you can clarify any of the pieces, let me know.
Some of these .MIDs were a little quiet... I have increased the volume on some of them in Cakewalk Pro/Windows v2.0, so that they may be heard. Others I have left due to varying track volumes and laziness. You may need to turn up the music volume for some of the tunes.
All of these sound great on any General Midi device. I haven't listened to them on Soundblaster, so I can't guess what it will end up like on there... or on any FM device.

This is a collection of star wars midi files I found on wuarchive.wustl.edu in /systems/ibmpc /ultrasound/sound/midi/files .The file was called xwingmid.zip... It had some errors, so I saved what I could and uploaded the file here. A good one to use for the starwar1.wad is inflight.mid.

Tired of the same old Doom music? I put together some midi's that I think really fit in well with Episode 2. Most of them have an eerie, haunting quality that I feel enhance the game play. Also, my favorite is E2M9, the monster's scream at the beginning fits in quite nicely with the song.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
