  3. Trench

Trench is NOT a gaming level - it is basically a utility level. Purpose: to help wad authors determine if the player will be able to make a jump or not. I often see this kind of request on RGCDE.

    Operation:
Switch with red arrow will lower the opposite side of trench all way down.
Switch with green arrow will raise it in increments of 32. Thus, one may vary the difference of jumping height. The texture used allows to determine quickly the height difference. Total depth is 512, each square is 64.
Trench width changes in 32-point increments, from 32 to 512. Again, floor texture allows easily to determine the width used.
To facilitate more accurate jumping, guiding 'rails' are provided. The runway length is also easily determined using floor texture.
For your convenience, a teleporter is placed in the trench corner for easy exit.

Oh, and if you get sick of jumping, go and slug it out with a cyber!
Hope that you'll find this wad helpful.

  8. Command Line Assistant 1.0 alpha

The purpose of this program is to help in using programs that take long command-lines, such as Olivier Montanuy's DeuTex. The idea is that you type something short and snappy, like:

    cla -make

and CLA consults a data file and executes a command such as:

    deutex -doom ..\ -overwrite -make wadinfo.txt ..\mycool.wad

The format of these data files is discussed in the help file (cla.hlp), and illustrated in two example files, `defaults.cla' and `coolwad.cla'.

  9. ENDOOMER

ENDOOMER is used to edit ENDOOM data that is stored in a IWAD or PWAD. ENDOOM DATA, if you were not already aware, is used by DOOM to print colour text ending messages that appear on the screen when you quit DOOM. ENDOOMs are good to use if you want to give someone credit for the making of your WAD, and it's also a good place to put your Internet address so people know who to mail their comments to.

  12. DMPS: The Doom PostScript Map Generator, Version 2.0

This program produces PostScript maps of Doom levels, extracted from WAD files.

Thick lines represent solid walls on the map.
Black circles represent objects. The letters inside represent what kind of object it is.
Black circles with arrows represent the enemy. The direction of the arrow is the direction the creature is initially facing.
    Grey lines represent secret areas.

  13. Doom Color Changer (DOOMCC3)

This program modifies the DOOM.WAD (or DOOM2.WAD) files' player pictures. This allows a you to change the way other players are viewed in a multi-player game. If you are playing a cooperative game, you can make the players white so they stand out and you can avoid hitting them by accident. Or, you can make the players dark colors so that a deathmatch game can be more difficult. This program will work with all known versions of DOOM and DOOM2 though version 1.7a of DOOM2 as it searches for the bitmap PLAYA1 within the WAD file to determine where to modify the player data.

  15. Doom Keyboard Spinner v0.50Beta

DMS is a tiny TSR (1.3K bytes resident) that intercepts Doom's calls to the mouse driver. By clicking the mouse buttons that you define, it will instantly turn you 180 degrees -- facing the exact opposite direction. Cranking up your mouse driver sensitivity can allow you to do the same, but then your accuracy may fall off. With this you don't have to make that compromise.

Annoyed when you're playing an awesome doom game, and you have to pause? You wish you didn't have to wait forever while it says PAUSE so the lmp can get on with it? NO MORE! Yes, with this 100 line program, you can eliminate _all_ of the pauses in your favorite doom lmps, and not screw up the synchronization! whoo hoo! It even works with your multiplayer demos!

Requires at _least_ doom 1.5, but if you're still at 1.2, you _really_ need to upgrade!

"Well Owen," you ask, "how does this wonderful product work?" Piece o' cake! It rips out all the time in the pause down to the few game tics it needs to keep the game in sync!

  20. DemoTool 1.2d

DemoTool is just what it's name says: a tool for demos. Currently, DemoTool can read a demo from any Doom or Doom 2 version at or above v1.4 (the demo format header changed significantly at version 1.4). It will display the version the demo was recorded with, the skill level, the episode and mission (strangely, there is an episode number for Doom 2 demos, but it's always 1!), the mode (be it single player, co-op, original deathmatch, or deathmatch 2.0), whether monsters respawn, whether the -fast switch was used, whether the -nomonsters switch was used, which player recorded the demo (for multiplayer demos), and which players are present. As of yet there is no providance for altering any of this information, but look for such in version 2.0 (to be released very soon.)

This will be usefull mostly for PWAD authors that want to make sure the user has the proper DOOM version and that the files haven't been modified. It works with ERRORLEVEL codes, so can be used in batch files.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
