Solo network driver
By fraggle
This is a "solo" network driver, like ipxsetup or sersetup. However, rather than actually communicating over a network, it's just a dummy program that lets you start a single player netgame. It's functionally equivalent to "ipxsetup -nodes 1", except you don't need to load any IPX drivers.
This is in the same vein as the -solo-net command line parameter supported by source ports such as PrBoom+ and Chocolate Doom. Similar to that parameter, this lets you record single player netgames, although it doesn't let you replay them.
Source code (for Borland Turbo C) is included.27 downloads

CTFDoom's IPXSETUP utility
By Guest
A source modification of id Software's IPXSETUP that allows you to select the name of the game EXE the utility will run as well as what machine will use what player color. The first feature is quite useful for using DeHackEd modified EXEs on multi-player mode without having to rename the EXE to a standard name (either doom or doom2) and the second is useful for switching Player colors during DM or Coop, given the fact that the different Players "lag" differently. This utility was originally part of one of the CTFDoom distribution packages.8 downloads

KILLDOOM - Kills NetDoom players
By Guest
Here is the first release of KillDoom. It's meant to be used by network supervisors who want to definitelly stop NetDoom playing in their networks.
One can kill DOS/IPX NetDoom players anywhere in a network connected by IPX routers. Just run KILLDOOM with the network address as parameter and DOOM(tm) and DOOM II(tm) network players will crash. If you want to be more drastic, run KILLDOOM BROADCAST, and it will kill NetDoom players everywhere they can be found; just be careful with the BROADCAST option because it can really flood your network.
I'd like to say that I also do like to play NetDoom. It's surely the best game ever made in the world until 1994. But this hobby must not interfere in anyone's work, during business hours.12 downloads

Kali 1.2f
By Guest
Kali is a network driver which allows virtually any application software designed for use with the IPX protocol to be used over a TCP/IP network. Designed primarily for use with network games, Kali has been successfully tested with Descent, Command & Conquer, DOOM, DOOM II, Heretic, Rise of the Triad, VR Pool, Terminal Velocity and SuperKarts. Other software should also work as long as it uses IPX. Download Kali and start putting your Internet connection to good use!23 downloads

ipxodi-2.zip

This is a set of IPX drivers that I have successfully gotten to work with DOOM. This file includes LSL.COM, NE2000.COM, IPXODI.COM and a couple of batch files to make life easier.
NOTE: The NE2000.COM MUST be used with an NE2000 compatible card. The other files should work as long as you provide you vendor specific DOSODI lan card driver.143 downloads

IPXSETUP (Master/Slave)
By Guest
In order to make network play of DOOM easier to start, I have modified the IPXSETUP source code. One of the problems often times encountered whilst initiating network play is that one (or more) of the nodes has not been passed the proper command line arguments; and, therefor, one (or more) of the nodes is knocked out of the game immediately and then, of course, everyone needs to rerun IPXSETUP. Basically what I have done is allowed for a "master" and "slave" relationship between the network nodes. One player declares themself the "master" and the other players are "slaves" at startup. The "master's" command line arguments are passed along to all the slaves; in this way, all the nodes invoke DOOM with the same command line arguments.10 downloads

iFrag Version 2.2
By Guest
iFrag is a program which allows people to play DOOM, DOOM II, and Heretic against others across the Internet. As distributed by id, DOOM-engine games come with drivers for serial connections (using modems and direct serial cables) as well as networks running the IPX protocol. This is enough if you have a fast modem (and enough money to pay the phone and/or DWANGO bills!) or if you happen to have 4 Pentium-based PCs in your basement rec room connected by a Novell network. However, what do you do if you're a poor college student? What do you do if the only PC to which you have access is sitting in your school's computer lab and is running the TCP/IP protocol suite? What do you do if you are the only person in your office who likes to play DOOM? Enter iFrag, a TCP/IP network driver for DOOM-engine games. Not only will it allow you to play network DOOM across the Internet, but since there are so many other players also connected to the 'net, you can easily find opponents practically any time of the day or night.104 downloads

DOOM TCP/IP Network Driver, version 0.95
By Guest
This version has a few features people have been asking me about, including much better 3-4 player support, simpler command line interface, switches to run other programs (ie. DOOM2 & Heretic), and a bit more helpful error messages. It is NOT compatible with any version BEFORE 0.94.42 downloads

NETDOOM
By Guest
After a long and anguishing search for drivers to make DOOM work over networks, I finally found them. Doom only works over IPX networks. For people with LANtastic and other programs that run on NETbios, this created problems. I found two methods for getting around this, which seem to work equally well. The first is by using Novell's LSL, and the second uses packet drivers.43 downloads

The Internet DOOM Client/Server System v0.12
By Guest
The DOOM* Client/Server System is a front-end to DOOM TCP/IP network drivers. You use the client software to connect to a Frag Server. While connected to the server, you can chat with other players and bystanders and negotiate game parameters. You tell the server what parameters you want, and when all the players are ready, the server will give the client the decided game parameters plus the IP adresses of all your victims. The client software will disconnect from the server and then run a multi-player DOOM game (iDOOM* or linuxxdoom*).2 downloads

ipxsrc.zip

To the avid DOOM hackers out there, this is the source code to the IPX network driver for DOOM. By modifying this, you can get it to run under other network protocols such as TCP/IP. We only have an IPX network at id and would rather someone else give a shot at this for other protocols.10 downloads

oldipx.zip

These are some files which may be useful in getting DOOM running over a TCP/IP network. Included are an older version of a 3Com Etherlink III packet driver from 3Com, which I have found to be more reliable than the newer version from the Crynwr collection. Also included is an older version of the Crynwr collection, which includes a number of useful utilities that were taken out of the newer version. (Strangely, though, these older utilities were included in the documentation of the new version!) I have also found an old version of an IPX-to-PD converter which seems to run much better with DOOM than the new version by Intel.8 downloads
