  1. bs_l21

This level bs_l21 is for shores of hell level 1. The theme includes many outdoor areas and transporters. The difficulty levels should be considered higher than the normal game as I have become bored with the lack of carnage in regular doom. This level is set up to be played in death match as well as there is plenty of ammo.

  3. Cooper's Creosote

This is a very large wad (about 230k), mainly because of all the detail I put in. I would have released it a lot earlier, but I had to wait for the GCC version of DEU when it got too big. Then, I had to wait for Doom 1.4 when it got too complex. But now I have got everthing finished, and if you run it as described should be no HOMs, etc., unlike some... It will probably run slow in places on less than a DX2, but I had to comprimise for quality. I hope that I have made this level fun to play as well as good to look at, but only you can decide that.

  5. Perdition's Anteroom

This is a somewhat large level, so named for its central room with the large spiral staircase, replete with divers* weapons and sundry monsters. All secret doors have slight texture offsets, and there's a computer map behind one of them. I included every weapon at least once, and you'll find each kind of monster save the Cyberdemon and Spiderdemon somewhere in the level.

One room is reminiscent of Raiders of the Lost Ark (hint: lite-amp visors aren't always a good thing to have!). Another has three pillars in it; your selected skill level determines which one is your teleport destination. I have not played every WAD out there, so I think this is the first one to implement such a feature. There are a few wide-open areas suited especially for deathmatch play, and a preponderance of plasma rifles strewn about the level for quick rearming. Every room has at least one exit, including the lava pit outside (i.e., there are no "traps," per se).

If you enjoy this WAD, please email me and let me know what you liked about it, and also where you found this file (I'm curious to see how far its range grows). If you don't like this WAD, don't bother telling me, as I daresay I shan't have much time in grad school to fool around with level creation and fix what you thought I should have done. Finally, if you're a student at Colorado State, please look me up when I get there - I've never been to Colorado and I'd like some fellow Doomers to show me around!

  7. anthill.wad

This wad is based on the student center and campus pub at the Univ. of California, Irvine (U.C.I). This is the anthill pub that went $235,000 dollars in debt selling beer on a college campus? How? Unknown.

As far as I can tell, the cybodemon must be killed with the BFG9000 at skill 4.

It is certainly not the most difficult but it is challenging enough to be interesting.

These WADS take way too much of this grad students time, so feel free to alter/distribute/ignore or otherwise use these as you see fit.

  11. cnfusion.WAD

I made this wad file right after I discovered DEU, the almighty doom level editor. This is an experi- mental level for me. I made it as I was learning DEU and its how to. This is why there is no general theme to this wad ( Hence the name confusion). I will make my future pwad files with a general theme in mind. I would hope that you enjoy this level. I would also greatly appreciative if you could drop me a line and let me know what you thought of this wad (Good or Bad). If there were any concept, rooms and or ideas you liked or disliked.

This level contains a few wall which you can walk through as well as hidden doors. There is plenty of ammo, but you should use it wisely!

  14. CROSSING ACHERON

As in my first level -- DANTE'S GATE -- I have tried in CROSSING ACHERON to achieve a gaming atmosphere that is not only fast-paced (once the fur starts to fly), but just plain creepy. Once again, I went for the aesthetics (you know: The Look); but this time, I also tried to keep the game from being too easy. I think once you get inside, you'll find that CROSSING ACHERON has been fully optimized for DEATHMATCH. But it's just as enjoyable (if I do say so myself) in Single-player and Coöperative modes.

CROSSING ACHERON (pronounced 'ak eron) is a sequel to DANTE'S GATE -- thematically, anyway. (It's an E1M3 only because I thought the music was more appropriate than M2.) For any of the two or three of you out there who have read Dante Alighieri's THE DIVINE COMEDY -- or even only "Inferno" -- I'm sure you've been able to appreciate the many allusions to this work in DOOM. I have tried to take a tack of my own along the same lines. (I do this not only because I think the idea is neat, but so that people will think that I'm very clever.) I'm not so naïve as to expect everyone to rush out and get a copy of "Inferno" (I mean, it IS pretty tedious stuff, at times), but it's well worth the read -- and a little patience is a virtue that is often well-rewarded.

(By the way: Acheron is a river in Hell (basically). But don't look for any rivers in here: I tried it several different ways and just wasn't convinced.)

I thank those of you who sent me mail on my previous effort, and I hope to hear from more of you about this one. (Just a line would do: "It's great!" or "It sucks!" or "Now I know what John Cormack MEANT to do in "Unholy Cathedral.")

    Thanks. Hope you like it.

  16. Atica, The Escape.

Man, you've done it now. You not only hit your commanding officer, you blew his friggin' head off! Your sentence: Death, by gas chamber. You will be held at Atica maximium security prison. You have 1 hour before that sentence is carried out. Alone, you contemplate what you might have been. But wait! Here comes the guard! Thinking quick, you grab his gun and shoot him with it. Sorry man, but there's no turning back now. Can you make it? It won't be easy (better not be).

  17. AT_WORK.WAD

This level is based on my work place. Its pretty accurate except for the northern part of the building. I took an artistic detour here, there would have been too many 2 sided linedefs in this area with all the machinery. This level is huge! Really Big! If you take your time you can get through no problem. There is plenty of ammo and health kicking around. Even for Multi Player. I like killing Barons so ... there are a few.

A short trip through E2M1. This is definitely nothing wild or exciting, but I figured that as long as I went through the trouble of making this, I might as well share it. It's actually kind of easy, even on ultra-violence, but hey, what the hell....

Dark, you'll feel foreboding DOOM after starting this level. This level is pretty linear, so you don't have to worry about getting the keys in the right order, because you get the keys when you need them. Not easy. Trust me, I created this level and it takes me at least 15 minutes to get through, and sometimes I get my ass kick.

  24. bw1.zip

Included in this file are 2 wad files for use with Doom 1.2 by id Software. The first one (Dark.wad) is already online. This new one contains a few minor changes, most notably the inclusion of the BFG9000 to make fighting the CyberDemon a little bit easier. There is also an Ultra violence level, although its even harder than the original

The second one is called Sequel.wad for want of a better name. This one has more traps and surprises and also has anothe CyberDemon towards the end. As you might have guessed I like a challenge and the Cyber Demon is the hardest villian in Doom:) this one seems to be easier than my first level although not too easy.

  25. CHASE.ZIP (chase.wad + chase.txt)

Originally designed as a fairly simple WAD with deathmatch in mind, gradually grew to a fairly large level suitable for good one player action. Basically, prepare to chase and be chased in deathmatch mode, and run like hell in UV single player mode. Have included my favorite items from id's original levels, namely teleporters, certain textures and a few secrets with some attention to lights and lighting. Hope you find it enjoyable.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
