  1. CANYON.WAD

This level may be played all by itself as the first level of the second game, but is intended immediately before playing "HQ.WAD"

This is the first level I've tried to construct, and it shows in such things as mapping of wall patterns. It's a fun level, though.

  5. My First Adventure

My first DOOM adventure and excursion into using the DEU. This is an out and out shoot 'em up and is designed for single player mode, but it is set so that up to 4 can go at it. What makes this adventure interesting is the number of creatures involved and the interesting strategy that must be used to defeat them.

  11. CROSSING ACHERON 1.666

This is CROSSING ACHERON for DOOM v. 1.666. I have updated some textures, added new monsters, and completely revamped and added whole new areas. This is the level as I originally intended it, and I hope that you enjoy it.

As in my first level -- DANTE'S GATE -- I have tried in CROSSING ACHERON to achieve a gaming atmosphere that is not only fast-paced (once the fur starts to fly), but just plain creepy. Once again, I went for the aesthetics (you know: The Look); but this time, I also tried to keep the game from being too easy. I think the level is just as enjoyable (if I do say so myself) in DEATHMATCH as in Single-player and Coöperative modes.

CROSSING ACHERON (pronounced 'ak eron) is part of a series that began with DANTE'S GATE. For any of the two or three of you out there who have read Dante Alighieri's THE DIVINE COMEDY -- or even only "Inferno" -- I'm sure you've been able to appreciate the many allusions to this work in DOOM. I have tried to take a tack of my own along the same lines. (I do this not only because I think the idea is neat, but so that people will think that I'm very clever.) I'm not so naïve as to expect everyone to rush out and get a copy of "Inferno" (I mean, it IS pretty tedious stuff, at times), but it's well worth the read -- and a little patience is a virtue that is often well-rewarded.

(By the way: Acheron is a river in Hell (basically). But don't look for any rivers in here: I tried it several different ways and just wasn't convinced.)

    Thanks. Hope you like it.

  12. BASE.ZIP (Includes BASE.WAD & BASE.TXT)

You have just entered the secret BASE of the enemy. Your mission is to steal the heavily guarded backpack of jewels and reach the exit alive. This level is supposed to be as close to the real DOOM levels as possible. This level does support different difficulty levels. The main difference's between the skill levels comes at the end of the level. There are 3 different scenarios of Bosses you can fight. ALL of which are managable even in Ultra Violence. If you can't out-smart the Cyber-Demon without codes, then just play an easier skill level.

Here is the second edition of the family favorite BRTHOUSE.WAD. This is a DOOM PWAD of E1L1. Created using DEU 5.0 and tested with the registered version of DOOM v1.1. This PWAD only works with the registered versions of DOOM. This version of Bart's house corrected many bugs using BSP 1.0. Also added are secret areas that utilize Duck Blinds much like the sniper nest in E1M1 of DOOM.WAD v1.2. There are 8 of them. Consider this a challenge . There is one of them that can only be entered with the help of another player. This level has been optimized for multi-player deathmatches.

  19. FROM OUT OF THE WAD BIN... 'Bdw'

I started working on this series of levels around, I'd say, 8 years ago or so, and gave up a few weeks later.

My main aim with them was to create a megawad, changing each level for Doom1. I must've given up after finding out how pissy and annoying mapping can be- which is why i mostly did the maps for the beginnings and the endings of each episode- i just didn't care enough to do it all.

I think these maps are aweful and thank god I didn't waste anymore time finishing it all. Only, like, 2 of the levels are alright, i'd say.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
