  2. Frag Station

This is my second real level, and I think it's much better than my first level. The Fragstation is designed for deathmatch, but it'll also be fun when played in cooperative or single player mode. I tried to put as much details in as possible, and I took out the map room, because a few players didn't agree with me that such a room is useful. However, the level is still one of the bigger ones, and sometimes it may happen that all player search each other but cannot find anyone. I know that's annoying for you Doom2 Map7 lovers, but this level is made for searching and hunting, not blasting away the other players every 5 seconds. I suggest for deathmatch that you play this level in skill 1, 'cause the only weapons there are the shotgun, chaingun, chainsaw and the berserk. This causes longer, more interesting fights and hunts, before someone wins and starts singing an satirical song to tease the looser... :-] !

  4. Doom Display Case

WARNING! This is not a normal DOOM level! It was originally designed as a level to test out graphics and sound wads, so it includes all of the Doom 'things' (items and monsters and decorations). It uses some trickery so that you can get a close up look at the monsters without getting attacked (and without using cheats), but the display does have a security system :-) This level was also meant to be a _small_ first wad to learn Doom level editing on, but it... er... grew. Anyway, I think it has some interesting parts. There is an exit behind you at the start, so you can leave whenever you like, but the real challenge is to find the secret exit.

  7. Moon Chainshaw Massacre

You have defeated the mighty mean blood sucking zombies, and you are alone in Deimos moon, without any possibility of getting out. For hours you walk through whats left... suddenly you find a little shuttle, and you can get out of this inferno!

Couple of hours later of your journey back to Hearth, the computer board, gives you a warning that the reactor is low on Energy, and it must be recharged before you reach Hearth. By the report the only choice is the Moon at DOCKING BASE 1.

When you reach the Moon, the computer, informs you that he can't communicate with DOCKING BASE 1, and that he detects strange movements. You smell trouble, but unfortunately the only weapon that was left from your fight was a ChainShaw, you don't have any other choice... you tell the computer to use the tractor beam, to put you and your ChainShaw on Bay 1A, and to wait for you in this same place for about an hour...

My first PWAD. It got out of hand and grew and grew. Lots of secrets. Many ideas, puzzles and aesthetic rooms in there. Much better than the original E1M8! (Though not mean't as a replacement)

  16. The Final Fight

After fighting your way through the Shores of Hell (man were you ever Knee Deep in the Dead at the time), you think back on the Inferno. That was kinda cool you think to yourself. Oh well, nothing left for me to do except go home and watch T.V. All of a sudden you hear the voice of death itself!!! "NOT SO FAST HUMAN!!"

You find yourself fighting for your life once more. Let's hope this is the final fight!!

  17. Voidship

In the ruins of Deimos base, the mop-up crew found plans for a ship that will cross the void between the galaxies. This ship will enable the Hell-Spawn to spread their evil across the entire universe! The engineers at UAC have been able to beef up a teleporter enough to send ONE marine into the ship, which is currently cruising the local galactic cluster. They can't bring him back, but it is believed there is an exit teleporter on the ship. Your mission is to neutralize (with extreme prejudice) the crew and get out alive!

  19. I'm sure you'll have plenty of choice names for this one! ;)

It is a fight every step of the way, and (IMHO) more what one might have expected of e2m1, from the beating you take at the end of the 1st mission. It's got some pretty tricky things in it...but the overall difficulty I'd rate at about 60%-80% (doable). The next installments will be much more difficult. I really want to add a Metallica soundtrack to the whole level to set a more, er, violent tone (this may come along as I find time... any takers?) Let me know what you think (constructive criticism and voluminous praise much more welcome than flames!)

  20. DUCOIONI.WAD

This is my 1st WAD so please don't flame me if you don't like it. This WAD is a replacement for E1M1. Maybe some of you will find it too big to be played in deathmatch but I think it should be funny the same !. Originally it was full of barrels, decorations and other nice things but when I tried to save a game DOOM crashed. So I had to delete hundreds of these decorations (sigh !) in order for DOOM to save a game correctly ..... sorry .....You still can't save with DOOM 1.2

  21. SERENITY II aka ETERNITY (v1.1)

This set of 8 levels has been made with the word quality in mind. It's Mind here, not Muscles! We have tried to find a good mixture of action, architecture and adrenaline. Some of the levels may be a breeze, others may be a real pain in the *ss. But remember one thing: YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE THE CHEATS!!! There are a few very though places, but they can be done. When it seems you can't get around them without using the cheats, you may be doing it the wrong way and/or you may have missed one or more (valuable!) hidden rooms (which contain power-ups, weapons and/or ammo). Hidden rooms, as said before, can always be recognized in some way (different texture, different light-level, etc.).

  22. Deathmatch Alpha

You and your friends have decided to train on grounds you may find on a real mission. Within you find a temple with an exit leading outside and a military battleground in which to fight. You take a position and find your friend scrambling to find his. That's when you're up a FRAG. Each player starts with exactly the same armor and weapons. Players are judged on their skills to survive.

  23. SKULL (dskull.wad.WAD)

A huge, fairly straight foreward level that is shaped like the top portion of a skull. It's not all that difficult to complete, but nearly impossible to find all the secrets. I have installed more teleporters than nescessary in order to allow quick access to various parts in deathmatches. There are several areas that "respawn", not in the sense of NIGHTMARE, but some places you could kill everything, then come back later and find some new nasties. This runs fine full or almost full screen on the 486-33s I've tried it on. I have no creative or witty story behind this, except that I learned that I spent way too much time on this stage. 95% of the textures are aligned the way I want them (most done before DEU 5.2), so don't yell about the few bad ones. I have a bunch of new ideas for new levels, so this should not be my last stage. Also look for my ray-traced robotic sentries (sentry.zip) they replace the cacodemons.

  24. DAVES2ND.WAD

This is my second WAD, hence the catchy title. It's smaller than I would have liked, but most of the construction was done in DEU 5 and I started running out of RAM. It's subsequently been tidied-up in V5.2. I've tried to set it up as an alternative to E1M1 that can be played through, i.e. you won't start E1M2 with any advantages over the original in terms of usable weapons etc.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
