This is the Lost Level of DOOM, the one your mother never told you about! A big, complex WAD, almost 200K, this one is not for novices.

  4. DESTRCT

DESTRCT is an external wad for DOOM. It replaces E1M1, and it's GREAT for modem Deathmatch. The easy setting is very easy--the medium setting is pretty hard--BUT the hardest setting is KILLER! Tons of deathmatch starting sites to make modem play unpredictable!! Created by Jim Weis ("DOOMinator") w/ DEU521. For registered DOOM games ONLY. Enjoy...

  5. Widow Maker

Clues discovered at Gates of Anguish and Despair base have led you to the corporate headquarters and genetics labs of UAC. The evil infestation has reached even here. You enter an otherwise unguarded building a take the elevator to the upper floor. Things seem quiet, soft music is playing and there is a familiar guard outside the elevator door. Hmm, they have changed the decor since the last time you were here. You look over at the Reception Desk, and spot the Imps! Things are going to get tough. But you're the best, heh? Nothing is going to stop you from your mission, not some pesky little Imp! Play it cool, ammo and healing are in short supply (this is corporate life). Monsters abound, and have many places to hide. They may come out to find you, so watch your back.

  6. Despair

After a weekend of R&R, you return to your base to find your unit has not returned from routine maneuvers on Mars. Upon checking in with your CO, you find him a changed person. He only mumbles, "Despair, Despair, Why did it have to be Despair." Your comrades had been sent to pay a routine visit to OCP's genetics and physics lab knicknamed "Despair" because of its remote location Grabbing your sidearm, you head for the hanger to begin your search for the fate of your comrades.

This is my first complete level, so please bear this in mind. Please E-Mail me with your comments on Compuserve.

  7. DEPTHS OF DOOM

You have landed on the surface of the planet below. Intelligence has told you that below the surface, there are two more levels. On the surface, mostly there are rogue creatures, and the quest is to find the passage to the hell-hole below.

Once on the second level, it becomes clear that it is an area used mainly for storage, use and disposal of toxic waste. Apparently, these dudes are not environmentally-correct.

At the third level, you realize that have sunk to the depths of hell. It's damned hot down here, and you'd better find a way out...pronto!

  8. Deathtrap

I think the name says it all. Its playable but tough. This was an experiment in building a simple level that would be dangerous and make the most of a player's skills. It may be easier to play cooperatively, and deathmatch will be deadly. Warning! The monsters have free travel and may come through the walls at you! Tons of ammo included. 9. DRDEATH1.WAD

Half-Baked Meaningless Babble: Ok folks, here it is, the long awaited (haha) DRDEATH1 patch wad for your killing pleasure. I enjoy DOOM wads with a space station motif, but I don't exactly enjoy running around trying to solve all kinds of puzzles. There are a few things to figure out in DRDEATH1 but nothing extreme. This is a level designed with killing in mind. Getting trapped in a little room with 4 barons of hell sucks, so you won't find anything harder to kill than a cacodemon. I prefer getting in shotgun fights with the sergeants and being overrun by the little bastards, so thats what I have created. Lots of former humans, sergeants, and imps with a few demons and cacodemons thrown in. I also indulge in two more of my favorite scenarios: big rooms and dodging fireballs. You'll see. This is a good size level with 500 something enemies so I recommend a pretty speedy 'puter.

Worthless Statistics: Things: 534 Vertexes: 1382 Linedefs: 1352 Sidedefs: 2048 Sectors: 238 Platforms: 23 Why am I telling you this?

  10. ESCAPE

A spooky castle with skeletons in the dungeons. You have been incarcerated here for a few years after unsuccessfully attempting to storm the place on your own (a foolish thing to do). Still, your superiors think you might have useful information (if you're still alive), so they send in a real marine to bail you out. Unfortunately, your guard is a tough nut and manages to blend the marine's brains with the wallpaper before himself buying the farm. Pity, you'll never finish that game of halma. With his dying breath the marine croaks something about a secret passage and a teleporter waiting for you out in the woods, so you set off, wondering who in Hell designed this amazing place. You wish you had more time to hang around.

The file is ESCAPE.WAD and is a level E1M3, i.e. episode 1 mission 3. It supports 2 modes: killing mode (ultra violence only), and strolling around whistling and giving it all the architect's once-over (all other settings). It is not particularly suitable for deathmatch, I don't think, because it's fairly linear. There are no keys or any of that unrealistic stuff which is for RPG wimps .

I can only hope it gives as much pleasure playing it, as it gave me to construct. JUST HAVE FUN but be careful out there!

  12. DEIMOS - replacement missions for DOOM, Episode I (Knee-Deep in the Dead) Missions 1 and 2

Setting: Far'way planet, stuck in a demon infested millitary base, running for you life, taking pot shots at mutilated space marine buddies... nuff said.

E1M1.WAD (Sorta short and easy...) Can be played over the modem, but NOT in DEATHMATCH mode.

E1M2.WAD (Degreelessness mode suggested for first time of play.) Can be played over the modem, DEATHMATCH mode available.

  14. Castle Phobos v3.1

A nine level episode where the theme is set in a castle environment that is meant to be a challenge. Included is new fantastic music to keep you going. The music is pure pleasure for those who have a General-Midi music device. There are new monsters: A Seargent that looks similar to the player for multi-player confusion, Death's Shadow replacing the imps. You will find that the levels get increasingly more challenging to level 5 and eases off on levels 6 and 7 and becomes hard again on level 8. Level 9 is only tough if you insist on destroying every demon. Remember, this level is built so that you will never become trapped. Every room that has an entrance, has an exit! (Note: as a challenge, I mean without using cheat codes!)

  21. Fred.wad

Fred.wad (creatively named) is my first attempt. I think it's quite difficult. However the more macho doomers should be able to complete it without cheating. Be careful of some traps that have no way of escape. It's not very big but should be alot of fun alone , cooperatively , or as a deathmatch. Please send me your comments or suggestions as I'm still learning. Also if you need hints write as well.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
