  2. 2001 A DEATHMATCH ODYSSEY

The precursor to 2001 A Doom Odyssey. 2001 A Deathmatch odyssey consists of 8 deathmatch levels that replace Episode 1. Music included is a random selection of songs which will be used in the full 2001 A Doom Odyssey megawad. These levels are designed for -altdeath play, without it weapons won't respawn and Ammo will run out. Style of the levels differ alot from dark, dirty to clean and hi-tech. E1M8 was only my third paper planned level. Works with Doom 1 version 1.666 or over. V1.9 or sourceport recomended.

Single-barrel shotgun close to all starting points; access to better weapons are at a higher-risk, depending on where your enemy is..... Watch your back!

Skill level (1-2), only has shotguns, chainsaws.

  6. MISSOURI RAT LIGHT (01ratlte.wad)

Highly addictive Doom I or The Ultimate Doom, DeathMatch level

Good mix of open spaces, hallways, teleporters and lifts. Lots of invisible walls, and traps. There are lights in the corners of the court yard, that tell you in what general part of the building to look for your enemy!

Single-barrel shotgun close to all starting points; access to better weapons are at a higher-risk, depending on where your enemy is..... Watch your back!

The BFG and Plasma gun are harder to get, with considerable risk involved.

On skill level (1-2), which only has shotguns, chainsaws and the chaingun, .....the chaingun is difficult to get.

The backpack is available on all skill levels.

  7. AROUND THE SKYPORT

DEATHMATCH, 2 to 4 players. - Easy to identify exit. Circular court yard. New type of windows, (never used before, to my knowledge!). Circular lift to obser- vation tower. Lots of teleporters. A few secret rooms, hidden pannels, and invis- ible walls (the hidden panels and walls -Do Not Have- mis-aligned textures, and are difficult to find by design... :)

This wad is set up like a war zone, many locations to snipe from, but all have an entrance and an exit to dis- courage camping out!

The BFG and Plasma gun are harder to find, depending on the skill level. On skill level (1-2), which only has shotguns, chainsaws and the chaingun, .....the chaingun is harder to find.

The backpack is available on skill levels 3, 4, and 5, and is also harder to find.

  10. 8-Pak Death-Match Wad

8 DooM 1 (or Ultimate DooM) Death-Match levels. Converted from original DooM 2 wad (10 PAK) made by me. Perfect for a bloody marathon with alot of variety. All skill levels are included to match everyones various playing abilities. These levels are also optimized for use of monsters as they are kept at a minimum to allow for good respawning monster play in death-match (they won't get too much in the way but still add alot to the fun).

Skill levels 1 & 2 -Plentiful in ammo & health bonuses. Slightly less (or weaker) monsters. No BFG's (except the BFG Frag level) Skill levels 3 THRU 5 -Less ammo and health accordingly. Level 5 has almost no power spheres. More (and/or stronger) monsters. BFG's (and all weapons) are available.

  11. Too Simple

Basically, my friends and I spend hours playing DM on MAP07 in Doom ][, so I decided I'd make a wad in the likeness of said level. Though I never really took much time analyzing the level, I took the basic shape, and worked from there. I mean this to be a DM WAD, but you can play it co-op, and single playerly (though each of above suck). One word of advise, if you don't like plasma, don't get this WAD.

  12. First Blood

Hi there, this is Chris speaking, well, after about 23 hours of hard work, my FIRST (yes, FIRST!) wad is completed. It was rough in the beginnings, but I got the hang of DEU and life was so much easier. Well this wad is specifically designed for deathmatch (2-4 player). It has lots of cool sniping spots, a PIT OF DEATH!, Well placed items, cool places to develop new and interesting strategies, and loads of fun. Oh, did I mention the PIT OF DEATH!? ;).

  13. A thousand deaths (1kdeaths.zip)

Being totally fed up with existing DEATHMATCH levels, I made a level which can be played frantic or with stealth. Main feature is having to choose your heavy weapon before entering the main gaming area. You'll always have the shotgun and the chain- gun, and you can choose between a rocketlauncher, a plasmarifle or a BFG. When you run out of health or ammo, you can (try) to get the berserker box in the middle. (The punch will kill instantly.) Use DOOM 1.666 with -altdeath.

This level is tweaked for speed. If you can speed it up even more, I WOULD VERY MUCH LIKE TO HEAR IT!

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
