  1. Tombstone Deathmatch

Most deathmatch PWADs I've seen are pretty pathetic. They usually consist of a lame arena type of set up with weapons/ammo wall-to-wall.

Well, not in Tombstone. I've recreated (sort of) four square blocks of that infamous western town.

No, you aren't Wyatt Earp, or even one of his brothers. You are just a guy who likes to frag his friends. And TombStone DeathMatch makes it fun!

Tactics: Yes, there are some tactics to this PWAD:

    - Get on the roof-tops to sniper your pals!

    - Open the stall doors in the barn to release some nasties for your opponents. Just make sure you get out of the way.

    - Do NOT hole yourself up inside the storage area. You'll be an easy target with the open walls on each side.

    - You're a panzy? Make a run for the easy-access exit in the northwest corner. Watch out for sniper fire while you try it!

    - Go for at least one heavy weapon early in the match. FAST.

  2. Paul's Deathmatches

A set of 4 Deathmatch levels. This is a set of deathmatches I've been working on for a while. I finally decided to finish them and upload them. I tried to make these WADs a level higher than most of the other Wads I've seen out there. I kept the end level switches consistent throughout all the levels.

LEVEL 1: a set of opposing fortresses with turrets Hints: Side turret bottoms open Wall behind chaingun in "meatroom" is a door Try the blue switches

Level 2: Castle arena Hints: Center trap lasts 30 seconds Outside of center trap pillars open trap

Level 3: Spaceport Arena Hints: You can go over wall into blue-white pillar pit at the center closest to the pillar

Level 4: Processing Plant Hints: Wall by rocket launcher opens to get off tower Press on the walls in the area by the stacks

  3. Untitled

My goal was to produce a PWAD that took some thought and/or skill to play rather that pure blast 'em 3rd grade logic.

All secrets and doors are marked in some way by change in color, texture or decoration. Pushing on walls to find totally hidden secrets is not my idea of fun and a total waste of time.

Don't look for an over abundance of ammo as it takes the skill out of the game.

  5. ralle.WAD

I created this PWAD long time ago only to try Deathmach in a network. It didn't work and I forgot it. Now I found it again and saw that it was good. So Jesus came down and said to me: "Do some texture-aligning and it will be good." And it was good. And on the third day I builded this text and I saw that it was good. And on the fourth day I rested from my work, so the fourth day is a holy one...

The archive you got this from should have 4 wads in it, ruindm.wad, ruindm1.wad, ruinx.wad, and ruinx1.wad. All of these levels are designed for deathmatch. The dm files have a cooperative exit in them, the x levels have no exits. The 1 files are for doom 1-all others are for doom 2. This level was originally created for Energia, and have been modified for death match since then. If you use this level for the base in other levels please contact me. Also included is warmdos-use this if you do *any* edits to the map other than objects because otherwise the level will be unplayable

  15. Peek-A-Boo

PEEK-A-BOO is a DOOM I deathmatch only level without any monsters except your friend-become-prey. It's stricktly move fast and kick ass from begining to end. The level consists of a few rooms connected to each other so the action will always be constant. There are a few false walls that make for good ambush sites. The players start in one of four hallways adjacent to a couple of rooms. They will each find the same weapons depending on the Skill level chosen (The higher the Skill level, the nastier the weapons and greater the Health bonuses. There's also Invisibility Spheres and ammo for the weapons scattered throughout. There are TWO Teleporters in the big room (East) that will transport you to the North or South corners of the hidden hallway above the big room. The northern Teleport takes you to the northern corner facing South and the southern Teleport takes you to the southern corner facing North. This level is great in DEATHMATCH 2.0 as well as regular Deathmatch. There is plenty of opportunity for ambush.

4 excellent deathmatch levels for DOOM.

Me and my friends use nothing else when

    we run a deathmatch-weekend.

There were supposed to be one more level

but a major bug was discoverd during

playtesting. Perhaps I'll include it in

the sequel to QUAKE!, if I ever make one.

Large room in the middle, where all the action is. Several raised ledges around the perimeter of this room, where the start points, and the weapons are. Also some connecting passages around the outside. We have literally hundreds of hours on this level. It's fast. IT ROCKS. Nuff said.

  19. rmh19.wad (revised demos for Doom 1.9)

These wads are designed to be primarily for Deathmatch play, but the author intended for them to be still useful and enjoyable for play by individuals (or even cooperative mode). The designs are most conducive towards exciting Deathmatches, and all levels are relatively compact, but they are set up in such a way so that the other modes of play are still fun and fast-moving.

  21. RUN666.ZIP (run666.wad + run666.txt)

A hunting deathmatch / single player wad, designed (deathmatch) to encourage chasing your opponent, while posing the risk that he/she may turn the tables on you if you aren't careful. Single player requires a little thought, hopefully not to little thougth, and there are no nasty tricks or unsolvable traps. This wad designed for use under version 1.666. Has fair ammount of ammo, so you may or may not want to use -altdeath for respawning. Difficulty levels fully implemented.

  22. RY11ECR.ZIP (ry11ecr.wad + ry11ecr.txt)

A deathmatch level, designed originally for 2 player modem, but suitable for 3-4 player network and single player. This started as my first wad, but went through many hours of reworking to look good. Anyway, the central area of this level is a reasonable representation of where I and my regular deathmatch oponnent work in real life, with a DOOM twist, of course. Outside areas and such were added just for fun. We find this a constant favorite for long deathmatch duels, but that may be due to our familiarity with the layout. Hope you find it as much fun. Little attention payed to monsters / difficulty levels, best played with -nomonsters. Please don't flame me about the bigdoor2 textures on most doors, I used the texture because I hate the other available door textures for less that 128 widths. This wad designed for use under version 1.666. Has lots of ammo, so you may or may not want to use -altdeath for respawning. Then again, if you like rocket duels, you might.

  25. The Reactor

Scene The site of A fusion reactor. Situation: CRITIAL; An infultration team entered the reactor a day ago to check on reports of missing personel and strange happenings with the equipment. A half-hour ago, all the power went out in the nearby colony. You've just been ordered to go in, along with your partner, and investigate.

Upon entering, you and your partner immediately find yourselves under a rain of heavy gunfire. You managed to dive outta the way, unfortunately you can't say the same for your partner, you look up just in time to see him look at you for help, hand reached out toward you. *KA-BOOM* Your partner's body falls to the ground lifelessly.

Rage fills every part of your being as you look up at the enemy, and then total horror hits you. Your partner was just gunned down by one of the members of the infultration team! NO TIME TO THINK!! *KA-BOOM* The shot rips through your shoulder.... You unload three shots into the person standing before you.

As you examine the body of the man you just killed, you are horrified when you notice the condition of the body. "Three bullets couldn't have done this much damage?!" Well, no matter, you know what you were sent to do, and you know you can't trust anyone else you meet here.....

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
