  2. DoomonstrationGame

It's not easy to explain what is this all about. Well,. right the moment you are reading this, a nomonster version of this WAD will have already been presented through an LMP as a wild demo at the Pixelshow demoparty. By running the batch file inside the bonus folder (provided that all these files are in your Zdoom directory) you will see how exactly it was presented at the party. Then again, I thought it would be a good idea to fill these maps with monsters to make it playable for Doom freaks. So I also edited doomonstration_game.wad for you.

Trying to be as brief as possible, a demoparty is a computer gathering for demoscene geeks. Demoscene is a community of geeks, coding graphics algorithms, drawing pictures and composing music in our computers. A demo is a combination of all these three forms (Check www.pouet.net for some of them) Normally, the main rule about demos is that they should be realtime graphic demonstrations coded in any programming language availiable.

This LMP/WAD combinations isn't applying for that!

Except from the demo compo however, there is a wild demo compo at many demoparties, where there are no rules and you can release anything crazy or obscure at the stage (we have seen videos, 3d animations, mobile and mini pockemon demos, demos on selfmade hardware, even shows on the stage, either funny or serious stuff involved.) And then I have thought, it would be a good idea to add one more obscure platform in those wild competitions. Doom itself :)

There are some cool stuff like 2d and 3d stars, plasma effects and texture warping inside. These effects are famous in oldschool demos, there are also inside scene jokes and a building of the university of Patras where the greek demoparties Gardening, ReAct and Pixelshow took place.

I had more wild ideas for this presentation, but I had to finish it right here, for the deadline of the party is too close and I must also finish some OpenGL code for a regular demo. Expect also a more serious Doom2 WAD which is in the workings..

  4. Dreadful Change Upon us....

This is a UDoom wad, it was suppose to be a complete episode 2 replacement, but then some other stuff got my attention :) and the project dies. Still this map remains, I see nothing wrong with releasing it. The map is pretty nonlinear, You may complete it quickly, if You desire You can find all the secrets and prepare Yourself for the next map.

  5. E1M3: Reincarnated

E1M3: Reincarnated is a recreation of Level 3 of the first Doom. I looked to keep the gameplay of the original Doom, and spice it up with detail, and features zdoom has. I *might* consider recreating the entire first episode if this map goes well.

NOTE: This map was made from scratch. No parts of the original map were used in the making of this map

Oh yeah, and one more thing. For those who would like to complain about The fact that I used a couple non-Episode 1 monsters, BLAH.

Updated on April 07, 2004 at 1:35 PM: :: Fixed a couple texture misalignments I noticed :: Changed the red strobe light in the blue key room (now fades red) :: Implemented difficulty settings :: Added a little more health in Ultra-Violence

  9. Fear Complex (version 1.0)

'Fear Complex' is a large single player/co-op map based on DOOM Episode 1 styling cues.

Episode 1 has always been my favourite, so this is my way of saying "thanks for all the memories!"

Being an E1-based map you won't find any cacodemons or lost souls floating around, you can't get the plasma rifle, BFG or certain powerups, and there aren't any cyberdemons lurking behind closed doors ;)

This is my first 'serious' attempt at making a DOOM-based map, and it probably won't be the last. I've pissed around with EdMap, WadEd, and DCK before, but that was around 6-7 years ago. I have done quite a bit of mapping for Quake and Half-Life though.

  10. Doomed Once More

It was a loooong time ago that I released E1M3 "No Quarter" of the Doomed Once More project as a "teaser" level for what I'd hoped would some day be a full episode replacement. Unfortunately, that day never came to be. I made a few more levels, but since then I've been falling in and out of the Doom Community. Just today, I thought what the hell, I spent too much time on this to never release it. I mean who am I kidding, I'm never going to finish four more maps. So here it is, the Doomed Once More project as finished as it's ever going to be.

  13. No Quarter

This is E1M3 of my project, Doomed Once More. Hopefully, the project will even- tually cover all of Ultimate Doom AND Doom 2. But just in case, I'm taking it one episode at a time. Run this little WAD on Ultimate Doom (YOU MUST USE A SOURCE PORT THAT REMOVES THE VANILLA ENGINE's LIMITATIONS, as vanilla Doom seems to hate my wad. Warp to E1M3 either in the command line or by using the IDCLEV cheat.

  15. The beginning of the End Part II for the Boom mod

My follow up to The Beginning of the end. Lots of new stuff here. All these levels have an original feel to them. You will enjoy playing these wads! But be warned... they are tough! I know you have heard it before but these levels really are tough! I spent COUNTLESS hours on these levels, making sure they are some of the best levels out there. You won't be dissapointed in these levels. (Individual level descriptions below) Ok, just so y'all know, I really BARELY used the cool stuff that Boom can do. Next to nothing. But There is still a lot of nifty little tricks that you may think are cause of Boom. Plus these wads would suck if I didn't use Boom, cause a few of the levels are too big to save on using normal ol' Doom. Enjoy! If you liked these wads, hated em, anything, let me know! Thanks.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
