  1. Switcheroom: The Forgotten Maps

During the development of Switcheroom there were 18 additional maps made for the project that were rejected for various reasons. Such as not resembling the original map, making the incorrect map, or being replaced with a better submission.

The Forgotten maps is not intended to be played continuously. The ZMAPINFO will pistol start you at the beginning of the next map when you reach the exit.

E2M5 & E2M7 have secret exit locations, but they act as normal exits

  2. No End in Sight

Oldschool 4-episode adventure for The Ultimate Doom, featuring some of the most devilish map design this side of 1994. 'Nuff said... ish.

Similar to DTWID, the spirit of id is ever-present, albeit cranked up to 11 with a devious new spin on the classic episodes' themes. Along the way, you'll enter parallel worlds, explore derelict spaceships still floating in the sky, and return to some eerily familiar locales on the far side of Phobos and beyond.

  3. Doom: Damnation

A three-episode MegaWAD that acts as a personal "reboot" of DOOM, designed with a purely vanilla mindset, so, besides some "new" ideas here and there, as well as a somewhat higher challenge, don't expext anything fancy.

  5. Doom the Way id Did - The Lost Episodes

Six episodes of classic Doom maps, originally candidates for last year's "Doom the Way Id Did", arranged in an episodic format.

DTWID was a long but fruitful journey, with somewhere around a hundred map submissions in total. Given the strictness of the rules, most of the maps cut were not done so for reasons of quality. On their own they're quite solid maps, deserving their own showcase. This collection, while not 100% complete, contains the vast majority of submissions to the project.

Episodes 1-3 are an alternate take on the idea of Doom the Way Id Did, three sets of maps arranged to mimic id's original episodic styles. Several maps in these sets were very close contenders to the main project, excluded only because of withdrawals or episode length limits. You may be hard- pressed to find a difference in quality!

Episode 4 follows partially in the same vein, with several maps that mimic the style of id's "Thy Flesh Consumed" and hell-themed levels filling out the rest of the roster.

Episode 5, "Base Instinct", is a "bonus" episode of E1/E2-style maps, and can be thought of as an alternate take on the Phobos / Deimos story. The episode can be accessed in the main game menu with either ZDoom or Eternity. For vanilla or other ports, running DTWID-E5.wad will load E5's maps in place of E1's.

Episode 6, "The Final Gate", is a ZEternity- exclusive "Boss Rush" episode consisting of E*M8 candidates. No separate wad is provided, as MAPINFO is required to make the boss exits work, though the individual maps are vanilla compatible for those willing to put the maps in the correct slots.

  6. Knee-Deep in ZDoom

The experience of playing through Knee-Deep in the Dead is one that many gamers will never forget, but through the years the episode has become too easy for many to play through and enjoy the way they did the first time.

Knee-Deep in ZDoom is an interpretation of Id Software's original groundbreaking production, Knee-Deep in the Dead. The team has focused on expanding the original episode by utilizing the power of Randy Heit's ZDoom port; adding new areas, features, and gameplay devices not possible under the original Doom engine. Knee-Deep in ZDoom is a new experience, but holds strong to the atmosphere of the original. Relive the fear. Relive the nightmare. Relive Phobos.

  8. codename HYENA killermachine

This is the rerelease of our old old old TC Hyena, wich was made between 1994 and 1998. It's not testted this time around and it probaly got hundreds of bugs. But it was rereleased by popular demand. (from people who hadn't played it yet. :p) I don't claim it's good. But I as the head developer of it of course love it as it was my baby for 4 years (before I got online and saw what other people did with the engine). Please don't mail me and tell how much you think it suck (if that's your opinion of it) as I really don't care to hear about it. I also included the old FAQ for the TC as I hope you'll laugh as hard as I did when I read it the other day. ;) Last note: If you decide to play DM in Hyena on e3m1, then you really should use the e3m1ptch.deh file instead of the regular Deh as the map was designed with this grenade launcher weapon in mind. (instead of the bfg. Something for you bfg haters then I suppose ;) )

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
