  1. X.wad

Errrrrrrr... well, imagine you are in a series of badly lit tunnels and the only way you can see the monsters is when they shoot at you. That should give you a fairly good idea of the level. It is my first Wad, so be nice to me and mail me if you play it, whether you like it or not. There are bound to be bugs, so get used to them. If I do a sequel, I'll try to sort them out. Meantime, enjoy! and keep a look out for the "Phantome" label in Doom levels. One day they may be good!

You've recently been sent to work as a temp in a wharehouse. The address is a bit strange... Its in Hell! You discover that a new shipment of demon-spawn has just arrived, you decide to take it upon yourself to make sure they never leave the trailer alive....improvise.

  5. XFIRE.WAD

A weird mix of half-baked ideas. (YOU try to come up with something original to compete with all those other new .WADs).

Level one is just being cute, and gives you a chance to build up supplies. Level two is short, and is based on a simple idea. Better oil that chain saw! (Hint: experiment a little with the pistol...) Level three is big. The "crossfire" room (you'll know it when you see it) is a blast. For a treat, try walking through it backwards!

  6. Where? The Warehouse!

This level just screams 4-player deathmatch. Since the maze is so big, you may want to use respawn just to give yourself something to do while looking for the others. I have a theme in mind, so this may become part of a 9 level episode. But then again, everybody says that.

  9. ZMAZE11.WAD

Fun map. If you like looking around corners before jumping out, and if you like simple mazes, then this is your map. There is enough excitement to keep you busy for hours. No need for cheat keys. For those DieHards, I put at five barons in the level. If you don't feel like taking these on, then don't let them out!

  10. YakWorld

What is Yak World? The simple and clear answer is that we haven't got a clue. Many sections are highly nifty, but if it resembles a theme park or some sort of yak-infested planet we'd be the last to know. It lacks theme, unity, some of the things we love to see in a healthy WAD. We admit it! Don't hurt us.

However, Yak World shows a clear progression from Yak Man's initial stumblings in Deu 5.0 ("oh boy, let's put a 1024 drop right here, and many shotgunners") to an expert overuse of linedefs in 5.1 to create lighting effects, ultimately bringing Deu to a crushing halt, unable to create or delete sectors without giving over 1000 warnings and crashing at the end of the compiling process... These problems have been identified by UpJohn Co; Deu warnings are definitely a contributing factor to male-pattern baldness.

Of special note is the secret sewer area, which I rather like, being it my idea and all. If you haven't played it you haven't played the game, or something like that.

Features of Yak World include aforementioned unfinished sewer system, big drops, scary things with light, weird texture replacements, guns, rockets, lack of spider demons. Lots of secrets I can't tell you about. Go play that wad!

  14. YOUNG1.WAD ver 1.0

This is my first WAD and I think it captures the spirit of the original DOOM levels - with a few new tricks of my own! Hardened DOOMers shouldn't have many problems getting off the level - but my challenge to you is to collect all of the weapons - they're all available, from the chainsaw to the BFG - but they're not all easy to collect...

  15. viper.WAD

Essentially a drop in replacement for E1M1, although it includes some nasty traps, and 100% kills is not easy to achieve on Ultra Violence. This is not a 7 spiderdemons type level, It doesn't include anything tougher than a demon, but if you just charge through blindly you won't come out too well.

  17. village.wad

As you wander across the surface of hell, you stumble across a village. Except for a few guards, it looks quiet enough. Although, the thick stone walls are a bit odd. So you decide to look inside the buildings. Big mistake...

This level is all about mazes, and the various ways they can be implemented. Some of the mazes are devious in the extreme, but you shouldn't have to cheat. There are few true secrets.

This is definatly the wad I have had the most fun building. I enjoy playing it for both deathmatch and single play. It has some good sniping spots, and weapon placements. A couple secrets rooms which arn't hard to find. Some really nice scenery I enjoyed making. If you would like to play the author at this wad, contact me at the above address, but be warned; you will be playing on my turf! Doom on..

  20. Wedge

I created Wedge for my own personal kicks. The level is elevator intensive without becoming unplayable. The level contains all the gut-splattering and limb severing weapons that DOOM has to offer, though some are easier to get than others. Originally designed as a single player game for people who think that ultra violent is a day at the beach, WEDGE has proved itself as a KILLER modem deathmatch level. (This was the consensous after SEVERAL hours of playtesting, and too many hours for me to mention of fiddling.)

  22. WARHOUSE.WAD

Imagine that a large, abandoned, warehouse in your home town has been overrun by nasties. It is up to you to save the day! You must first fight your way in from outside, make it through the outer offices, and then finally into the warehouse itself. Although difficulty levels are implemented, it is always pretty tough! Good Luck! The level itself is pretty large, and may be a little slow on some machines if all the nasties are running around at the same time. On a 486 it is fine.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
