1. ANNOUNCEMENT
---------------
TeamTNT proudly announces the release of
+-------------------------------+
| Doom2000: Hub One |
+-------------------------------+
Doom2000 is well on the way to a complete release in early 2000, but
we just knew you needed something before the end of the year. That
is, the end of the year 1999, as reckoned by our central TeamTNT
server, in US Eastern Time. If you're in Europe or GMT+something
that thinks it's already 2000, Happy New Year.
Doom2000: Hub One is now available on ftp.cdrom.com and its mirrors.
See below for the exact path.
What's the Hub One release? It's 7 levels that work seamlessly as
a single hub. Sort of like one big level since you can go back and
forth between the levels any number of times. If you've played Hexen,
then you know what we're talking about.
Bugs? Yeah, probably. Time sort of ran out, even for this initial
release of just the one hub. We've tested it, but there's always
someone out there who can break anything. Usually we'd bring them
into a beta testing team, but there wasn't time for that this time.
We do reserve the right to make further changes and enhancements to
the 7 levels you're getting, when they're combined with the others
for the full release in early 2000.
The storyline is available on our web pages. You might want to get
yourself in the right frame of mind before you start. It's solo
play all the way, with some interesting tricks and puzzles to deal
with.
Remember, this is just the first hub, 7 levels, something to get
you used to the environment you've just stumbled into. Who knows,
you might even speak an alien language by the time you're done.
Trivia: The real title of this hub is
"Out of the Trashcan and Into the Fire"
but that was a bit too long to fit into a filename.
Features:
- 7 new levels with ZDoom features, in this hub.
- All new textures (if you see a DOOM texture in there,
we missed it!)
- New sounds
- All in one WAD, easy to run
- New music by Rich Nagel
- It's by TeamTNT members!
- Dehacked lump modifies a few things.
- By the makers of
- "FINAL DOOM"
- Icarus:Alien Vanguard
- TNT:Bloodlands
- TNT:Grievance
- TNT:Pursuit
- TNT:Reclamation
- Eternal DOOM
- Eternal Deathmatch
- ... so far ...

2. INSTALLATION
---------------
NOTE: This product was made to work with ZDoom 1.17c. Though the full
release may work with later versions of ZDoom (this one might too),
the Hub One release is specifically designed for and tested on 1.17c.
Doom2000: Hub One comes in one WAD file, zipped into one ZIP file.
You'll need PKUNZIP.EXE or an equivalent unzipping utility to unpack
TNTD2KH1.ZIP. This will produce TNTD2KH1.WAD, TNTD2KH1.BAT, another
copy of this file, TNTD2KH1.TXT, and a couple of miscellaneous BBS
description files.
Just unzip it wherever you can run ZDoom from, and run TNTD2KH1.BAT, or
load TNTD2KH1.WAD in your favorite front-end program that understands
how to use the ZDoom engine.
Floppy download:
Sorry, but Doom2000 is too large to fit on a single floppy, and if
you think this is big, wait 'til you see the final release!
------------------
3. TROUBLESHOOTING
------------------
Not much can go wrong, since this is just one WAD file. However,
since not much can go wrong, something might, and maybe a few
steps here will help.
a. First, verify that TNTD2KH1.BAT and TNTD2KH1.WAD are in the
directory that ZDoom can run from, and that you are in that
directory when you type TNTD2KH1.
b. Spell TNTD2KH1 right. That's TeamTNT=TNT, Doom2000=D2K and
Hub One=H1.
You can run it at the command line as:
ZDoom TNTD2KH1
instead, if you don't like batch files.
----------------------
4. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
----------------------
A computer that will play ZDoom well. Some of the levels may be
a bit resource-intensive if you have a lower-end computer.
You'll really need to have a sound card, the better the better,
if you get our drift. There's a lot to hear... a bunch of new
sounds too.
The WAD file is a bit over 11MB unzipped.
---------------------
5. WHERE TO GET FILES
---------------------

the file from our web site (see below).
While you're there, get Eternal DOOM, Icarus, Eternal DOOM, Grievance,
Bloodlands, Pursuit, Eternal Deathmatch and whatever else we've created
by the time you read this...

6. HOW TO GET HELP
------------------
If it's about ZDoom itself, contact Randy Heit and his followers.
If it's about Doom2000: Hub One, email us or post questions on our
message board, or just ask in the news groups.
Don't bother id Software about any of it.
We're available through our web site at www.teamtnt.com. You can
select the mail link there if you want to send email.

7. PARTICIPANTS AND CREDITS
---------------------------
Many team members are participating in the full product. Here's a
list of who did what so far through hub one. The full release
text file will be more specific. It's not quite fair to say one
person did a level because of all the interaction we've had. For
example, scripting tends to be something where certain people made
common "prefabs" and incorporated them into others' levels. That
sort of thing. But that's because this is a team and not just some
levels that someone assembled.
Anyway, people seem to want that sort of information so here ya go.
It's in order of which map number they did, to avoid sorting the
names alphabetically.

And of course we thank the authors of the many utilities we used
to produce Doom2000. Without you the DOOM-editing environment
would just suck.

8. SOME LEGALITIES
------------------
Doom2000 is a copyrighted work and though free
is not public property ("public domain"). Don't take stuff
out of our levels, and don't take our levels out of Doom2000.
Doom2000 should have been free to you (connection times and
stuff notwithstanding) and shouldn't have shown up on
someone's collection or CD. If it does, let us know right
away. We are serious about the CD thing--no commercial
compilations are allowed to include any TeamTNT products under
any circumstances, even if they delete this text file...
We thank you for trying Doom2000: Hub One. Let us know what you
think about it. Keep checking our web page for the full release
in a month or two (we hope).
