666 mini-episode

About This File

A mini-episode consisting of 5 levels. Replaces E3M4 through E3M8. A batch file is included to start the episode. Just unzip the file into the DOOM directory and type 666. It will give instructions on how to use the batch file (you have to give it a number indicating the difficulty level).

More hell is the basic theme. You start at the "home" of the spider-demon, but he is nowhere to be found. Find him, kill him, the end. Simple. Right?

A nice mapset for stuff made back in 1994. Not perfect but it's fun as well.

666 and 777 were two of my early favorites. I'm very happy to see he made 3 more later on. Great classic stuff ***** -sargebaldy

Though it's an average level set, notstaligia hunters will enjoy this. Some fun too. Not great, not bad. Try it. 3/5

You could do alot worse than downloading this levelset. Sure the architecture isn't great, but *at least* there has been an attempt at making the levels look nice. The Gameplay is also too easy by todays standards but never becomes boring.

A damn good mini-replacement of E3 from 1994. It's ugly but really fun; perhaps even moreso than the real E3. 4/5

666 and 777 are two of the classic old-school maps. The other three maps in here aren't bad either. My favorite is E3M5 (the second level). Try it.

Bad: A bit too straightforward; a shame it never became a complete episode. Good: Very good lighting and architecture for its age; sticks to the Hell theme in a consistent, convincing manner, with lots of carved stone and hanging bodies; not especially hard, but the action always keeps you on your toes. Overall: Linearity and slightly low difficulty holds it back a little, but otherwise, 1995 mapsets rarely get this good. 4/5 -VV

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
