Archive Maintainer : The original chainsaw.zip contains an old
DeHackEd v2.2 patch which is in binary form
and is not compatible with any source port.
New to this version:
- converted the DeHackEd patch to Patch
Format 6 for compatability with Doom II
v1.9, DeHackEd v3.1, and many popular Doom
Source Ports, such as Boom, PrBoom, MBF,
SMMU, PrjDoom, ZDoom, Legacy, etc.
- combined the two wad files (map and
sounds/graphics) into a single wad.
- added a level name graphic for the
intermission screen.
Update to : ./idgames/graphics/chainsaw.zip
Recommended location : ./idgames/levels/doom2/a-c/chainsw2.zip
Advanced engine needed : No

Description : A modified version of "The Lost Mines" by
Mark Anthony Klem full of chainsaw-weilding
maniacs and other denizens of hell.
Anyone who knows the original map will be
suprised by the new ending in this version
...there's something not quite right with
this Cyberdemon ;)
Some cool new sounds are included, and the
Marine's face in the status bar is now
wearing prescription lenses 8-)
Additional Credits to : id Software who created the original Former
Human sprites and status bar face graphics.

Play with doom2.exe
-------------------
To install CHAINSW2 for use with 'Plain Vanilla' Doom II, you need to:
a) Firstly, create a replacement exe file (doomhack.exe) using
chainsw2.deh and DeHackEd v3.1.
For example: dehacked -load chainsw2.deh
b) Secondly, add the extra sprite graphics to chainsw2.wad using a
program such as DeuSF, WinTex, NWT, etc.
For example: deusf -as chainsw2.wad
c) Once patched, play the game with: doomhack -file chainsw2.wad
Play with a Doom Source Port
----------------------------
A much better option is to use a Doom Source Port that can import
DeHackEd patches and pwads containing sprite graphics, such as:
Boom, PrBoom, MBF, SMMU, PrjDoom, ZDoom, Legacy, GLboom, ZDoomGL, etc.
Patching is not required with these source ports, just use the files
as-is. For example: boom -deh chainsw2 -file chainsw2
legacy -deh chainsw2.deh -file chainsw2.wad
ZDoomGL (see your port's documentation).

Known Bugs : A few minor map problems such as: one secret
passage which the player can't actually get
to, two secret sectors next to each other
which should only count as one secret,
some lines which shouldn't appear on the
automap, misaligned textures, etc. (in other
words, the wad and DeHackEd patch have been
updated, but the map is in it's original
form for historical reasons).
May Not Run With... : Source Ports which don't have both DeHackEd
and sprite support, such as: JDoom v0.81,
Vavoom v1.6, Edge1.24, and others.

Replaces the Stupid dog-like demon with
a chainsaw welding maniac!
Looks great!
Also changes barrels into out of order
Cyber demons! Also looks great!
Not a piece of sh** like a lot of
other graphics patches.
The level is a slightly modified level that
I stole. Called MK3.wad His txt file is
included as well. The level is short,
but good, mainly to show off my graphics.
Info : This is my fith pwad.
The first two were practice.
The third is called The_Home.wad
The fourth is called UAC_cave.wad

Your Mission : The CyberDemon Lord and his minions have slain
all of the miners and claimed the territory for
their own. The demon carpenters have just started
reconstructing the mines into the rich surroundings
that the CyberDemon Lord enjoys the most. It will
take two keys to end this madness and one to leave.
The mine shafts are now watched over by groups of
imps with their guard dog spectres, while the demons
get to do all the actual work. Several stronger
creatures have been recruited as guardians of the
keys. Few former humans have been summoned here by
the CyberDemon Lord as their services are not yet
required; however, if the Lord feels any threat,
like from you, then he is likely to dispatch them to
his disposal. Don't let nuthin bite cha!
