A massive map full of weapons and ammo repeated 30 times, each level has a different enemy repeated many times in the middle. Sometimes there are a few different enemies around the exit, a couple of levels have cybers/spiders, MAP29 has zero enemies. Or you can just run to the exit every map and finish the whole "megawad" in about 5 minutes. Annoying upbeat MIDI music. 0/5

It was really fun, but some reviewers above don't get the point. Doom after all is basically about SHOOTING STUFF! stars: 5

First of all, for god sake get more music. Hell, just use the original doom soundtrack. I did enjoy the whole bunches and bunches of enemies approach, this just got dull after a while. And if it was too obnoxious (see the pain elemental level or archvile level) I just skipped it. The ONLY variety you offered was you moved the location of the starting enemies to be around you. I love the pure mayhem aspect, just try to make the levels different...

This is awesome! instead of getting lost trying to find the red key, you get straight down to the basics of what Doom is all about - Shooting things!

I didn't even have the least bit of challenge running to the exit in these. This is like a precursor to 1monster, but stripped of the good level design the aforementioned had, which was its one and only strength. This is just...utterly pointless. I think unfunny jokewads sometimes even give me more enjoyment.

Realy boring wad. 30 levels with the same single level, other monsters are withdrawn in some places the 29th level, as soon as there are not monsters quasi.

You dumbasses! this is what Doom is about, none of those stupid puzzles or faggy key!. Every level was pretty great, ingeniously designed with surprises waiting for you at every open field. My favorite level design was map26, amazing amazing dude... Another strong point of this megawad is the variety of music. Some were very emotional feeling, MAP03/02 brought me to tears. Very heroic sounding. I was disappointed by the last 10 songs though. Maybe a sequel? 5/5

How long did this take you to make? Probably less time than it takes to finish it. Get your head out of your ass.

One star for the background music. Too bad it's the only star I can give.

I liked it. Its fun if you play it with Strife so you can summon friends to help you.

The idea is that you're meant to kill all the monsters before exiting. Like PHTGA but not implemented quite so well.

Good idea, but some of the levels have either nothing in them, or two barons of hell after just fighting 15,000+ mancubi? WTF? **

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
