NUTS

   (627 reviews)

About This File

Once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away...

NUTS.WAD!!!!

THE STORY SO FAR... You are assigned to destroy the final Hellspawn army on Litrivin IV. The government sends you all alone becuase you got drunk at the General's Birthday party last year and he never liked you since. Since this is the biggest Hellspawn army ever esstablished, the cheap-ass General sends you with nothing but a pea shooter. Good luck.

According to the author, this was just an ftp upload test, because he didn't do that before.

This wasn't meant to be a serious wad in a first place, so why everyone's expectations are too high?

(But I won't give it 5 stars, because it would be unfair compared to other wads.)

I bet everyone who complained about the slowness played in GZDoom or other bad alternatives.

Runs perfectly fine in PrBoom+ (but that's probably too much for certain people to download and set up properly).

glorious midi and palette, but that's all it has going for me, besides the bloodbath it makes.

Overrated trash that people constantly meme about instead of actually playing. Gets a kudos from me for the led zeppelin midi.

This wad is so hard, you gotta ballsy playing with nuts, but it's worth it. After hours of sucking at nuts, and believe me I sucked A LOT, I ended up loving nuts a lot. would recommend if you want a rough experience, with rock solid design, and balls to the walls action. I personally love nuts. This wad is cool too I guess

Ah, yes, the ultimate benchmark tool for anyone looking for a decent computer. A fine piece of technology (I didn't even realize that this WAD had somewhat of a plot, despite its joke-ish nature), indeed, with a bonus feature by the greatest rock song on Earth.

5/5, would play again with anything but a potato.

This is a historic Doom pwad, it's impossible not to give this 5 stars. Only thing is that if you want to play this, play it on GlBoom plus if you're using an old version of PrBoom or change video mode to GlBoom because if you do not do this, your computer might explode (though if you're using an old computer or one that is not very powerful itmight not explode but you will probably not be able to play)

Background music is a MIDI of Puff Daddys theme for Godzilla

Holy fuck, this review cracked me up!

I guess this is technically correct, but the song is called Kashmir by Led Zeppelin.

NUTS is pretty legendary, it's simplistic but feels wrong to give anything shy of 5

Hmmm... Not much to it really. Background music is a MIDI of Puff Daddys theme for Godzilla... Not my cup of tea.

lagged on my 3060 Ti, 5/5 perfect Romero-approved WAD

Seriously though, it's an interesting piece of Doom history but honestly serves no purpose other than pure ridiculousness. And I like that sort of thing. 3/5

Edit: I'm now realizing it was lagging because I used GZDoom. This is a true Kappa moment.

Basically just giant arenas with enormous amounts of monsters. Add Russian Overkill to the mix and you'll annihilate them pretty quickly.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
