NUTS

About This File

Once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away...

NUTS.WAD!!!!

THE STORY SO FAR... You are assigned to destroy the final Hellspawn army on Litrivin IV. The government sends you all alone becuase you got drunk at the General's Birthday party last year and he never liked you since. Since this is the biggest Hellspawn army ever esstablished, the cheap-ass General sends you with nothing but a pea shooter. Good luck.

Stupid WAD. I still had about 400 cyberdemons to go when I ran out of ammo, so basically it's impossible to beat this without cheating. If it had a LOT more ammo and if the author had put a lot more thought in this map, it could actually be fun to try to beat this map.

Running a Core i5 2500K with GTS 560 Ti and 16GB of RAM. Engine is GZDoom. There are still massive framerate drops. I tried combining this with Brutal Doom and it was completely unplayable.

10,000+ monsters! And I thought some of the levels from Alien Vandetta and Scythe had a lot of monsters. 3/5

"...it's nothing more than 10,000 monsters" said the previous reviewer. Not true. There are 10,617 monsters.

How is it that people think this level is hard? I have completed it in under a minute before. I only have video proof of 1:05 though. After having this wad just sitting on my computer, I finally decided to try and figure out a way to beat it without the help of walking on the monsters' heads.

It's pretty fun to play, to be honest. 3/5, it would have been at least better to make an actual map with all the monsters rather than two giant rooms.

To the previous poster: you're trying to reinvent the wheel. There are demos from years ago reaching the exit in Boom/vanilla in not much more than *half* a minute (at least, as the game engine measures time!). Take a look at the DSDA table.

At the first run I was like WTF!?!?! Laughed with tears "How the hell I was supposed to kill everyone of them?" I fired a shot and moved back against the wall. After couple of times: Took the Invincibility and ran across the field of monsters to the far end of the map, then started killing the monsters and circling around them using their fire on themselves. "I did it! I f*cking did it! What now? Oh look the exit switch.." FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF FFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU UUUUUU

Evidently the people giving negative reviews for this have missed the fact that this is Joke WAD. 5 stars while I am wistfully waiting for a piece of tech that will allow me to run this absolutely insane piece of DooM history.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
