About This File

A nocturnal level, in the world after death. This is my 14th level and pretty tough, (like the others!). You have just been killed in a mission and were put in your grave, in the grave portal you open your eyes and see yourself in a strange world. Where the hell are you? And why these ugly zombies are attacking you? The answer comes in your mind and you know that you are in Hell Port 666 where the bad guys are sent to hell islands, and these guys want to send you there. Well, never mind, you don`t want to go there. You must find a way to heaven, but just now you must defend yourself!

low tight ammo map and it's pretty good. I remember it from the first CChest.

Survive here and there... Try use infighting and berserk or you run out of ammo very fast.

Great fun, with a nice backdrop. At least in ZDoom it goes a bit odd when you get to the ship (there are inert baddies floating in the air, and invisible walls). It's interesting to contemplate Doom's approach to theology; although this version of Hell looks grim, the various monsters, former humans and biomechanoids nonetheless live together harmoniously. Not much ammo, lots of health but lots of danger, quite tough.

Wow, it's very hard. I had a bit of trouble on UV, but after six hours of save&load i've completed it. There's serious lack of ammo, so i had to put down almost 3/4 enemises with my fist. :-)

Wow, good WAD. Not particularly detailed but it looks nice. Good variation of textures too. Plus the WAD packs rooms inside buildings with a good sense of space, which I always like to see.

Great design but really put some damn ammo in. Difficulty 3 is insane to play because half the time you need to punch out people in berserk. I don't even want to think what 4 and 5 are like.

A very nice 2002 wad (now 2012). 300+ monsters. Fairly easy for the competent Doomer these days (I played it on UV -fast), although I can see the lesser Doomer struggling with this as there are some tricky areas - if you don't employ infighting - I love watching those bastards kill each other. Kept me entertained for an hour :) 4/5

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
