About This File

10 Levels for Zdoom, Plus 2 secret levels. Each level has all new challenges awaiting you. Plenty of use of the features in Zdoom like stealth enemies. There are also some new enemies capable of peforming the most unexpected tricks. There is no scripting this wad because I havent figured it out. There are 3 new types of Cacodemon, 1 new Cybderdemon, 1 new Mancubus 2 new Hell Knights. You're mission is to Save the backpack from the white Super Cybderdemon and kill yet another giant spider. Secret exits are in Level 1 and 8, both are extremley difficult to figure out, but the secret levels are the most stunning.

Paul Corfiatis is one of my favorite level authors, but this was a disappointing effort from him. Monster placement varies from stupid to annoying and the architecture isn't much to marvel at.

It is fairly good, but why aren't these levels (and also Bella II for that matter) quite up to the standards of your other wads?

Not bad, but not up to some of PC's other work. I'd really only gove 3.5 stars, but I was nice and put it up to 4.

Not the best work of Paul by any means, but like its sequel, there's just enough good in here IMO for a lower-end 4* rating from me, as opposed to 3*.

Good, but not quite up to some of Paul's others (like Selfish or DT II).

Very good, and certainly difficult at times. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through and there were moments where I had to be very strategic. 5/5.

I really loved this level. I had to do some interesting things to get through some of the hordes of monsters Bella throws at you, and there was a lot of thinking involved. The only downside (in my opinion) is that most of the secrets aren't marked in the slightest. Not even a little. And the ones that are, it's mostly an Automap thing. I had to clip to find half the secrets. Other than that, this .WAD is excellent!

The new enemies are ok, but the level design and silly monster placement isn't up to par.

This wad is pretty decent, but not of highest quality. Since I enjoyed your other wads, I will give this 4 stars (but I think it earns a 3)

Not quite as good as PC's other stuff, but I found it to be fairly solid nonetheless, more consistent in quality that its sequel (though the sequel has more maps).

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
