About This File

3 big battle rooms, to test your Doom ability. Only once you pass these 3 obsticles, then and ONLY then, can you claim the 'DOOM GOD' Trophy and exit the wad and get on with your lives. I actually took out hundreds of enemies so the FPS shouldn't go as ridiculously down as with Nuts.wad.

The first room is like a giant demon double-teabag... The title of the mod leaving an impression...

Surprisingly fun on nightmare & has a fancy reward too.

Nofi, but presumably created by a 12 year old slightly autistic boy desperately trying to impress his schoolmates with a pointless three-room open air map with about 4000 enemies. This is out of discussion not the way ID intended DooM to be.

I love this wad! Although it isn't as crazy as Nuts1, this one is just awesome. I love the third room. Not to gie away anything, but make sure you're prepared.....and the ending part is just memorable. 5/5 - Kirux

I was fairly impressed by this one. Much easier on framerates and crap, even with this crappy computer. I tried Nuts and nuts 3 on this thing, and they both crashed, even on zdoom, but this one did really well, and didnt lag any. I did cheat a little, because i used superweapons :)

Fewer monsters and better ending + fake mancubi and fake megaspheres make this a worthy successor to the original. I wonder what the music is.

Good, & actually playable. It didn't lag as badly as the first Nuts, but it did lag slightly in some portions. 3rd room is excellent.

A bit disappointing. I expected something even more insane than Nuts.wad, but this is a bit easier. On the bright side, no FPS slowdown in GLBoom.

OMG that's alot monsters! Well at least it runs better Framrate wise than previously. Level design is kind of whacked though, i mean it would be great to take on that many enemies but in more rooms than just 2. Oh and this map only works on ZDoom, i tried it on JDoom but it crashed. I prefer you play it on ZDoom (non-GL), you'll get better framerates.

This is surprisingly good fun, in a minimalist way. It's the same basic concept as the original - a giant square room filled with thousands of monsters, followed by another giant square room etc - but it's almost playable, it runs on 21st century PCs, and there are a couple of good jokes. It's almost Sky May Be at times, with the chaingunning soul spheres and the mancubus standees. It either takes a long time or almost no time to finish, depending on how you play.

Slightly more playable than its predecessor, this WAD actually has some things going for it (e.g. humour). It is also fun to try pacifist style .. which is possible, due to the massive amount of monster infighting. --2/5

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
