About This File

Dumped in the middle of a mining base on Titan, a moon of Saturn, you must acquire three keys to find the exit hidden in the mining headquarters. Since the natives are definitely NOT friendly an exit is a nice thing to find.

A very early J Flynn map. Huge space, with some  switch-hunt and jumping here and there. Just turn that m01 midi off and explore.

All JF levels are ugly and mindfucking IMO.

Jim Flynn maps are among the best ever made; don't believe anyone who tries to tell you otherwise.

This is one of my favorite individual maps found on idgames. Very huge for the time it was released and lots of fun if you enjoy the old school goodies.

This is similar to the author's other early levels. It's large even by today's standards, although the design seems very bare and crude nowadays. Nonetheless it feels consistent, and it has a lot of action. But there's a lot of wandering around, too, and some bits don't work very well (e.g. the dark tunnels). The staircase of hexagons looks cool, but that bit of the level is there just to show off the staircase. Denver zookeeper dies from jaguar attack.

Straight outta 1995, this is a classic Jim Flynn level. One of the first authors who could make a fairly consistent map which was never short of things that made you go "wow". A few features still do that even today, 15 years on. It does seem a bit bare and oft-confusing by modern standards, but there's no denying it's huge, revolutionary, and a damn lot of fun. 5/5

After 2 hours of wandering around I began to hate this. Huge waste of time imho, filled with lots nonsensical puzzles. Play only if you a masochist and/or lover Eternal m30 style.

Switch-hunts? Hours of wandering? Bah, the map can be exited in about 3 minutes. Great map, with lots to explore if you want.

Oldskoolish map that starts off nicely with high ledges and epic wide areas, but quickly devolves into a tedious and fiddly switch- and keyhunt. Not my style. Dos puto estrellas.

One of my favorite levels by Jim. We had a good time on CompuServe goading each other in making huge, complex maps. Those were the days... :) - Paul Schmitz

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
