About This File

A complete episode for Doom2, with all 32 maps replaced... I think that these are quality levels: cool architecture, good light effects, studied use of textures... And I hope, with a exciting gameplay! The two guys that appears in the main screen are Chiquito de la Calzada -"Child of the Road" (!!!), spanish humorist-, and El Fary -"The Fary", matchless spanish singer, like Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan or other international stars (!!!)-.

This goes in my favorites list.

Beautiful and creative maps, I enjoyed playing each and every level, lots of fun!.

I would rate this wad with 5 stars except for the stupid pictures showing all over the maps

that really distracted me and ruined the game atmosphere and spoiled my immersion.

Since I'm planning to play this again I probably will edit the wad and remove the silly pictures.

OK. I played this mapset looooooong ago but I left it in the middle of it, so I revisited it. And, despite that has references to spaniard humorists and a hell of a wacky story, it's a good mapset in terms of gameplay and how the level flows. Still, I found two major flaws in this.

One, most of the radioactive/lava damaging pits in various levels doesn't have a way to come back in a safe place like teleports or lifts or stairs. Meaning that you'll have a painful and annoying death, unless if you no clip or use rocket jumps to get out or fly (can work on mods).

And two, map 31 has a major flaw for completionists. If you go to one of the two paths, you'll have no way to come back to kill monsters and, therefore, you can't get 100%.

The music also have some nice points into this...like, hearing midis of Guns&Roses or Stairway to Heaven is a good touch. And that bossbrain quote that has some spanish slang all over makes me chuckle...

Overall, it's a good mapset that you can play it for a relaxing time. Not difficult, not easy. It's balanced and...try it by all means, being vanilla or modded gameplay. Thumbs up. 4/5

- HEXERETICDOOM -

design is good in general, but gameplay balanced in very sick way (no ammo or proper weapons at start, hordes of monsters in tight places, hordes of shooters without health compensations, hordes of spectres in dark places, etc) 2/5

Slightly above par one man megawad. It has some good maps to at least cherrypick. Most are definitely acceptable. A bit repetitive at times, but not a show stopper. Give a god if bored. I give it a 3 though in reality it's about 3 and a quarter.

This pack of 32 maps took me a while to finish. At first, seeing the first maps, I didn't even want to play it until the end, cause they looked very bare and simple. But the maps became better with every next one. The first half is quite easy to beat, but in the second half, the fights are getting harder. Though this work isn't outstandig, it's good and entertaining work overall. 3.5/5 -Milian

Given the high amount of SS Nazis I'm tempted to give this wad a 2/5. However, it gets much better as you play and even challenging. The level design sort of grows on you and reminds me of DemonFear. 4/5

I like it, it's one I keep coming back to. Still, I've no Spanish and it'd be nice to know what the levels are called.

I like the extensive use of Nazis in this megawad. It makes them seem like they are actually part of the legions of hell when they fight alongside them and not just being isolated in their own two secret levels. Mappers need to do this more often, in my opinion

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
