About This File

My first map.

A large, two-themed level created for Co-op, inspired by Hell Revealed and Alien Vendetta. Emphasizes large, well-choreographed fights. Exceptionally calibrated for Single Player.

Deus Vult starts you off in an underground tech base and will eventually plunge you into the depths of Dante's Inferno in front of your eyes. Difficulty holds up to the extremes of HR. Legions of monsters. 150 minute [estimated] par time.

The map can be played in two distinct configurations:

Config 1 - Split into four sublevels for people who do not have patience to play through large maps, or do not own a high-end PC (<1.8 GHZ). Also good for co-op play, since smaller levels lag less. Designed to be completable from scratch. *Runs from Map 01-04.*

Config 2 - The full monty, the unabridged version of Deus Vult, for people who likes big maps. Designed to be completable from scratch. WARNING: Needs an EXTREMELY STRONG LIMIT REMOVING SOURCEPORT. *Runs on Map 05.*

I love the AV series, and this is the closest thing to AV. 5 stars for the huge fights and mind blowing architecture

Deus Vult 2 in soon. It will be a 32 levels wad. Man, I'll hate to see the size of this thing. *****-Moti

Amazing...this map is almost like an entire fucking game in one level, very realistic, I LOVE the bigass room with all of those monsters. Instant classic, ranks as one of the best single level wads I have ever played. 5/5

Serious Sam Doom! On that level it's great, although the gameplay reminds me of old-fashioned arcade games like Smash TV or Heavy Barrel, in that you have to learn the enemy waves before you can finish the game. It looks fantastic as well. I wasn't impressed by the MIDI version of the Terminator music, though.

Wow, holy fucking shit wow. I've played thru this wad on UV without cheating and lots of saves, and the gameplay is absolutely insane/awesome, I don't know why some people would rate this down. The architecture is just drop dead gorgeous. And this is ur first map? Gotta be kidding me Converted. Brilliant work *****

I think this is getting overrated here. It looks nice, and is probably the most succesful first time effort that I can remember. But I did find it boring. Not always hard, but boring. Hopefuly DV II will have more varied gameplay. 3/5

Obviously the scope of this project is impressive, and especially for a first release for an author. However I've never been a fan of "Throw 2000 monsters at the player, have fun lol" gameplay. I understand it's a throwback to HR but I'd also give Hell Revealed a 3/5 because I believe it's not very fun. Only the visuals save the project, but I suppose, 4/5 even if the gameplay is stale and "-nomonsters" inspiring. -Scuba

This is an almost unplayable mess, bludgeoning me repeatedly in the head with turbo-opening hitscanner closets in every direction while you attempt to dodge 500,000 fireballs from mancubi+undodgeable archvile turrets all the way across the map without enough ammo to shoot at them even if you could see where they were. Then if you manage to survive that with a few health points, a Baron sneaks up behind you in a 64 unit-wide hallway while you're running from a revenant's godlike seeking missile.

It's a slaughterfest map like Hell Revealed, except it crashes computers. It gets really boring after a while.

Compare your wad to this and then kill yourself!!! its really that good. this map is really in a class of its own. The architecture is mind blowing, Satan himself could not have designed a better cathedral I would truly expect hell the be like this. oh and please use some of the badass monsters from the monster rec. wad if you make another map like this, you could make it just as hard but with less monsters. 10/5 easily

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
