About This File

My first map.

A large, two-themed level created for Co-op, inspired by Hell Revealed and Alien Vendetta. Emphasizes large, well-choreographed fights. Exceptionally calibrated for Single Player.

Deus Vult starts you off in an underground tech base and will eventually plunge you into the depths of Dante's Inferno in front of your eyes. Difficulty holds up to the extremes of HR. Legions of monsters. 150 minute [estimated] par time.

The map can be played in two distinct configurations:

Config 1 - Split into four sublevels for people who do not have patience to play through large maps, or do not own a high-end PC (<1.8 GHZ). Also good for co-op play, since smaller levels lag less. Designed to be completable from scratch. *Runs from Map 01-04.*

Config 2 - The full monty, the unabridged version of Deus Vult, for people who likes big maps. Designed to be completable from scratch. WARNING: Needs an EXTREMELY STRONG LIMIT REMOVING SOURCEPORT. *Runs on Map 05.*

Big levels with big fights, but that doesn't necessarily make it fun. It looks like you spent way too much time trying to impress people with the level design while totally ignoring the gameplay. And even then the only reason why people like the levels is because of how "open" they are. (The levels aren't even that big in reality...) Play the last few levels of Scythe to see big levels and large scale battles done right. I didn't take Map 1 into account, cause that was just bad.

Map II is the best hellish map ever created. This is something like hr style of gameplay but has very different battles most of them are life or death scenarios and only a very skilled doomer can survive. The beauty of circle strafe, tele puzzles, great cathedrals, lot of secrets make this wad one of the legends since there is no equal from the times of hr. Wad of the year Sure. A must download, at least if u dunno how to finish the lvls watch the demos and improve ! 10/5

Some parts were very impressive but most parts looked like random detail thrown together that looked unprofessional. Too many monsters make the game boring quickly after shooting 230 of them. I hope Deus Vault 2 wont fall into this uneven wad -Mustafa

I was just happy to watch the demos and let somebody else suffer the stress of this monster. Like other people have mentioned though, gameplay, at times can resemble wading through treacle and becomes a chore. You need that delicate balance of toughness but at the same time fun. I agree with another comment made, use different and less monsters from the monster resource pack to make it a challenging yet less boring affair.

The level design is spectacular but holy fucking shit these levels are insanely difficult! So many motherfucking archviles and revenants! These levels have the best Hell-themed maps I have ever seen in a Doom wad!

BIG. HUGE. TOUGH!!11one Okay, it is insanely difficult, however, if you just play it with Xaser's P0wer Weap0ns mod, it's fun as hell! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh cool. 5 stars.

A very hard map with excellent visuals; deserves attention for its sheer size alone. The ending fights (once you enter the toothed mouth after the lava tunnel) are disappointingly easy though, when compared to what came before. Still, one of the Doom classics, even if the LotR references are incredibly cheesy. --JudgeDeadd

This map is torn apart between being beautiful and wanting to be 1337 difficult to the point of bullying. There are some teeth grinding moments like clearing map02 or the nuke pool in map01, but there are some really amazing scenes like the cyberdemon maze and the firewalk as well. With everything said, the flaws cannot overshadow the effort, rigor, and beauty of DV. ***** for the hard work.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
