About This File

My first map.

A large, two-themed level created for Co-op, inspired by Hell Revealed and Alien Vendetta. Emphasizes large, well-choreographed fights. Exceptionally calibrated for Single Player.

Deus Vult starts you off in an underground tech base and will eventually plunge you into the depths of Dante's Inferno in front of your eyes. Difficulty holds up to the extremes of HR. Legions of monsters. 150 minute [estimated] par time.

The map can be played in two distinct configurations:

Config 1 - Split into four sublevels for people who do not have patience to play through large maps, or do not own a high-end PC (<1.8 GHZ). Also good for co-op play, since smaller levels lag less. Designed to be completable from scratch. *Runs from Map 01-04.*

Config 2 - The full monty, the unabridged version of Deus Vult, for people who likes big maps. Designed to be completable from scratch. WARNING: Needs an EXTREMELY STRONG LIMIT REMOVING SOURCEPORT. *Runs on Map 05.*

I wanted to give this a 5 star rating for the design, but the gameplay is simply atrocious.

I watched this level develop from the early days when it had the title "Attrition". This map has had an amazing development from a promising and intense, if somewhat unrefined beginner map to an amazing (and extremely tough) masterpiece to rival (and even surpass) HR and AV. Playing on UV is not recommended for anyone except the ultimate Doom Gods. 5/5. --Woolie.

5 stars for design and looks, 2 stars for gameplay. The monster counts are just ridiculous. But I guess it's just not my kind of gameplay, so anyway, great map! - Curunir

best hellish map - "fire walk with me" from AV (Anders rulz) Post Mortem (HR24) aint that hard (my maxdemo was 45 mins and i am definitely not a doomgod). AV26 is much harder imo coz Anders rulz :) this is good. like real good. for me the only better map in terms of gameplay is HR2_32. detailing ownz. ***** - Belial

Deus Vult is without a doubt among the best Doom levels I've ever played. Its right up there with HR (1&2) and AV!!! Gameplay wise, I think its top NOTCH!!! I never get sick of slaughtering endless hordes of monsters... The game design, architecture (sp) and the amount of imagination that Huy put into this monster blows me away. Its amazing to think that this was his first map. I look forward to seeing what else he can throw at the Doom community... KICK ASS JOB!!!

5 stars is a given, but it's not a perfect creation by any means. It's not fun playing this casually, that's for sure, but for demo-recording and watching purposes it seems good. Gameplay gets a 4/5 overall because of the potential demo carnage and the possibility of some iddqd+idfa fun. Visually this is legendary stuff. it's a little rough around the edges, but it's still mind-boggling. 6/5 for visuals. //Erik Alm

Played as a single level, this is probably just about the largest level ever made for Doom. The level is loaded with monsters and is very challenging, but is still very beatable and lots of fun. It may have been a first effort, but it sure doesn't look like it!

This is far too difficult for me, so I only watched the demos - but I can see, why hardcore doomers praise it. Looks fucking monumental and insane. Left me breathless 5/5 -- Brun Ohn

The new standard. Moves on from where Mishri Halek left off as far as I'm concerned. Aesthetically perfect yes, but the gameplay is just to DIE for as well. I hope you feel there is more to come, as we all do. pritch.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
