About This File

After countless hours of hard work, the first hub of RTC-3057 is complete. We are very pleased with how it has turned out, and hope you will be too. The hub consists of 7 levels and takes place on the Federal Commonwealth of Earth's flagship, "The Enforcer". It is a mod for Doom2 using the powerful port of Zdoom. You probably already know this, so...Enjoy!

IMO it's almost ridiculous this only has 4 starts. Possibly the best ZDoom hub ever. It beats Daedalus any day!

An epic adventure that has both reasonable gameplay and graphics. The difficulty can sometimes be very difficult, leaving you with very low health most of the time... that's not a problem at all! I can't wait for the next installment. 5/5 -Nestea

It would be better if scripts weren't weirdly fucked up. There's an error preventing from running a music in Labs (when it teleports you to checkerboard room) due to typo in scripts and nobody can't fix it.

Gameplay is fucking retarded (not enough ammo/health) but the mapping quality is 1337. -Giest118

5/5 for everything said above. The music alone would even merit this wad the same score.

great puzzles, perfect sector spacing, and good monster placement provide for the perfect blend of action and thinking in gameplay

The look of this wad is amazing. Makes it indeed look like a much, much, MUCH more modern game. The gameplay of this wad may be different, but I think it works out pretty damn good. I usually don't find hubs to be very exciting (hexen's first hub for example), and the puzzles can be tedious, yet not annoying at the same time, so overall the gameplay is on-par with the detailing.

Wow, a WAD that challenged me to have to use my fists here and there, rarely gave me the comfort of an abundant health percentage, and actually had intense battles I wasn't positive I'd survive through. Not too mention, challenge me with creative puzzles here and there. Awesome wad, the gameplay/story interface/difficulty made me kind of feel like I was playing a Marathon scenario on the Doom engine, which isn't a bad thing at all. Incredible use of the Doom engine.

One of the few WADs that uses ZDoom features by the boatload and still doesn't make them feel tacked-on. Truly a masterpiece.

After playing the ZDoom Community Map #1, I thought it couldn't get any better. Then this wad came along and kicked me in the nuts screaming "Wrong, bitch!". 5/5 - Ant

Even after a year, it's still awesome. And to that guy that can't solve the first puzzle: delete Doom from your hard-drive, your skill is not enough. 5/5

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
