About This File

I wanted to make an entry for Lutrov's 1024x1024 wad and came up with this awesome idea and started making it, but found out that the 244 linetype, which my level revolves around the use of, wasn't kosher for the project. So, I took the level and decided I hadn't released anything in way too long, and turned it into this.

The level takes place on a two-deck spaceship, complete with quarters, galley, rec area, laundry, computer room, science lab, cryo room, power control, observatory, and a bridge. The level is definitely doable from a pistol start, and it's even easier if you find both of the secrets.

I didn't implement skill settings in this map because it's so small to begin with. There's also an element of strategy involved, particularly in the final run to get the blue key and exit.

This map is very small, and it's damn cramped and there's no room to move. But you'll share this small room with a bunch of really bad guys. It's a very short but intense fun, and it looks ok, too. 4.5/5

Just for fun, I decided to load this wad with BLKSKY wad, to make it feel like I was flying in a luxury aircraft during a bad storm. I'm still trying to get the urine out of my shorts. :) As for the man, very nicely done. Detail was just right, and though cramped, I still think it's a nice level. BTW: Does anyone know of a good stain remover? :)

Lovely. Oddly, I've been getting into the "cram much detail into such a small map" mode lately. Anyways, 4 stars.

Usually I don't go for old school, but this is excellent. The level is very well detailed, and the fights are challenging enough to make for sweaty palms. Watch out for Arch-Viles and a cyberdemon within claustrophobic corridors.

Nice idea but far too tight to be fun, the monsters don't stand a chance - Szymanski

This is just what I was hoping would not happen with maps for Lutrov's 1024 project. Very nicely detailed and all, but there's just too much of a map crammed into the 1024x1024 box. 5 rooms max is really all you can fit inside that sort of area. So yeah, nice idea but not so well done. And you can get the blue key right at the start without hitting the required switches. 2/5

"This is just what I was hoping would not happen with maps for Lutrov's 1024 project. Very nicely detailed and all, but there's just too much of a map crammed into the 1024x1024 box." Not all the maps are like that. Actually, there are only a few tightly crammed maps. Anyway, the maps is nice. Maybe a little too cramped but it had some nice features. I especially liked the microwave oven. Next time use DOORRED etc. textures so I don't go around clicking on doors to open them. 4/5.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
