MAG HQ

About This File

This is what is believed to be the first HQ ever made for a ZDaemon clan. The idea of just having fun on a map without killing was the initial inspiration. A clan evolved and the HQ was born. It was basically our version of a doom paradise for the clan to hang around and have meetings. Eventually that got out of control and most of the clan wanted to do nothing but hang around at the HQ. This led to the eventual demise of the MAG clan. MAG is still in existence (as of 4/14/05) but has very few members. At the time of this HQ's limited release (December '04) the clan had over 40 members. None of the creators of this wad are still in MAG clan. However, seeing as how we made the wad, we have the rights to it. It is not being presented for serious review (or play), merely as a curiousity. So here it is, the MagnaMarines Official HQ. Enjoy =p

I know that this WAD is obsolete for its original purpose, but I have plans to bring it back to use for moviemaking since I see good eye candy for moviemaking backdrops in it! In fact, I even filmed a music video using this WAD.

This is a legendary wad. It is the original HQ that so many clan wads are based off of. It's both massive and impressive, with a strong personal touch to it, that I have yet to master in my own creations. There are so many things to do and so many places to explore. Although this wad has grown notorious for the amount of noobs it attracts, it remains a permanent and important part of ZDaemon history.***** -EarthQuake

I give this 4/5. Julz_D and Cybershark did a good job on this. On the flip side, I think HQs are nothing but an idiot magnet anymore. -swantz

On top of the awesomeness. This is totally awesome! Great detailed map, extremely fun and very relaxing (If your'e mad or going to play a game). Nice spa. You can also fill this map with monsters by typing summon ** (** - thing example summon doomimp). Great job, I would like to see more from you. Go to it. Infinite/5 - Moti

The rating for five stars says "legendary". Why aren't you all agreeing?! MAG may have been crap, but the HQ gets the adjective for rox0ring. Now, if I can only find Mike12 and force Cybershark to get me a room... :D

This WAD is OK. It's kinda fun to release the cyberdemons on people, but that's about it. -- 3/5

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
