like a lot of maps before it, Jager 2 is notable for having an interesting an rough beginning before becoming easier afterwards. the base still looks amazing, and this time the gameplay actually manages to be somewhat interesting, although there were still a number of moments with nothing but shoot in front of you. some neat things like the air shaft and the escalator, and the map still got a nice modern-Doom feel. that's about it as far as it goes though.

A good-looking and quite fun map. The first few ambushes can easily kill a first-time player but oddly the map actually gets easier afterwards.

Good god damn job. A map that has the classic feel to it but detailed very very nicely. This is one of the best maps I have ever played I think. 3/28/07

Dmdjm01 on pure steoids. Very good nasty traps in almost any area. The start is not so easy with one elevator and chaingunners at different floors. Then a surprising cage surrounded by the evil. And finally one hall trap wich is very annoying. two knights/one pinkie no space for maneuver. After that things calms down a little. gameplay preserves all the way around balanced with some tense situations near the end. A very good sequel. 4/5

Looks good, gameplay varies. I didn't like how monster placement consisted mostly of cheap surprises. There's too much health and armor, and tons of rockets and cells. Some areas later in the map were underdetailed compared to the earlier places. But it was fun, so 4/5 - Belial.

This is a large map and it's looking great due to a hell of a detailed ambience. The game is tight overall. Some episodes with weaker monsters lead to traps and situations where you have to show some skill in reaction, moving and shooting accuracy. And a few situations are really rough, but just not too hard. In total, gameplay has a perfect flow. Ammo and health come in appropriate amounts and the secrets are well done, too. Great map with a nice oldschoolish feeling. 4.5/5 -Milian

It's an awesome map (the escalator is a neat bit of design that just adds a cool touch) that tends to throw a lot at you. Not much time to breathe.

dmdjm01 was released on 7/11/99. Talk about a delayed sequel! But well worth the wait, as this map is beautifully detailed and features some devious traps. Fun map, looks awesome. 5/5

well this is a beautiful map. Gorgeous. Umm I don't like monsters popping out of the ground. Make them teleport in. Some fights against the tougher demons felt a bit boring coz it was still easy, only took longer. Ending is nice. The lift part followed by the trap at the start is one of the hardest elements of the map. Make it easier. The only major setback I think is that the fights could have been more engaging. Still, I loved it. 4 stars --- Starburst.

L33t ind33d. Elevator with chaingunners and instant opening traps seem sneaky a bit, but rest is pure pwnage. 1337/5

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
