About This File

The bioship Adessa has become infected with Leviathons, and is stranded in subspace. You must cleanse the ship before it to is turned into a Leviathon.

My monsters didn't work with the map so I cancled the project.

Like the rest have said: looks fantastic, plays like shite. It's creepy til you realize nothing is going to happen and you're basically wandering around a ghost ship w/out any ghosts.-Greazy Shorts

Kickass beginning! But - no monsters and no missions? Why? I suggest you take a look at some of Skulltag's DM maps for good spaceship levels. The textures could be varied up a LOT more. All in all, it's a 2/5 from me.

Even if it were completed, this isn't a particular stunning map. It's full of large, uninteresting spaces and very ugly decorations.

Absolutely lovely although very busy textures (and some nice lights, too), which will no doubt be used in other wads. The design is clean, symmetrical and large-scale and probably wouldn't have made for a good level, because it's much too open. It's odd that the doors are jaws. It seems that the author wore himself out making all the textures. I worry that it might have ended up like Alien Trilogy on the Playstation i.e. good-looking but dull and samey.

Absolutely beautiful massive-scale spaceship with ambient sounds, sloping floors and pretty much all Giger/biomechanical textures. So atmospheric, feels like you're right in the movie Aliens. Sadly probably would have been a dud enemy-wise, huge open areas rarely work well in the Doom engine. But I don't think it needs monsters, some clever switch and/or item puzzles would have made this a fun and different TC. Hope you finish it one day. 5/5

Very sad it is said to be "abandoned" since monsters didn't work. The rest of it looks great. Got all therves installed and activated but couldn't get further. Besides that it is an unfinished project it looks really good. Someone to take it up and complete it?

Really atmospheric sound and greatly designed stuff, well there are no monsters but I understand these are unfinished stuff. I was walking ahead in the ship hearing the huming of it's engines :) 3/5 - Optimus

So... it's an unfinished project without any monsters where you can't do anything? Sorry, but that sucks - I admit that it is atmospheric, but in its current state, it's also utterly pointless.

Someone from the DOOM community needs to pick this project up and create a playable, enemy-filled badass level from this template.

If you could have puzzles or something in place of monsters, this would be really excellent. It looks pretty nice already, so there's that.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
